    • Hi, Tony!

A while back, I read about a bonus level in the Genesis game "Gaiares" that could be obtained by firing the Toz 128 times. I tried this, with all codes off, on both Kega Fusion & gens, but had no success. I even made a code that had the Toz already fired 128 times, to no avail.

Do you know if there is such a level, and is so, could you make a code to access it?

(I recently asked Daminmancejin, but he didn't have the game & so couldn't find out.)

      Thanx in Advance,
      Phil

      • Phil, should be able to figure out that code. I don't know what the "Toz" is, but I'll do some reading and figure it out. If you have a code that lets me start with it (I assume it's a weapon), that would be great.

Did some basic checking, and didn't find anything that compares a value of 128 (80 in hex) to the number of times you've fired the Toz. By basic checking, I mean I only checked when I fired the Toz during game play, but it's possible it's checking for 128 Toz's at the end of the level, or someplace else. I'm assuming the RAM address for the number of times it's been fired is FFF562? I even checked for anything testing bit 7 (which = 128 in dec), but found nothing. I'll check a few more things tomorrow.

I did come up with a new GG code though...

          Gaiares (Genesis)

          RECT-A61E
Level select cheat is activated. Just start the game and you're automatically taken to the level select screen.

NOTE: This code may also activate the weapon select cheat, but I'm not sure how to do the cheat in the game. I couldn't get the level select/weapon cheat to work at all, so that's why I made the code. You're supposed to pause the game and press Up + A + Start (or something). If anyone knows how to use the weapon select cheat, please let me know if the code above activates it. I'll do more testing tomorrow to make a code to activate the weapon select it if this code doesn't.

Weapon select/weapon power-up cheat activated. For weapon select: pause the game, hold Up and press A, then unpause the game to get the next weapon. Repeat to get desired weapon. To power-up your weapon: pause the game, hold Up and press C to cycle through power levels, then unpause.

EDIT: May try and get both cheats activated with one code.

EDIT 2: Found out the code does more than just weapon select.

            • Phil, here is a link to a possible answer to the 128 Toz cheat: http://www.giantbomb.com/gaiares/3030-4900/

It says you have to fire the Toz 128 times and leach an enemy weapon every time, and then you'll get a special hidden weapon. Will look into that tomorrow.

All guns have fully automatic rapid fire. Just hold down the fire button and your weapon will continuously shoot bullets until you run out of ammo. Best to use with infinite ammo code.

Yes, Tony, the PAR code I made is FFF562: 0080 for having fired the Toz 128 times. I wasn't told it hadta leach an enemy's weapon each time. I tried this on Kega, using only an Invin. code, but it was still No Go.

I read your other replies after the one I quoted, and am gonna try your "Level Select" code & see what happens, and report it in this thread.

Thanx for your effort so far! (I assume you now know what the "Toz" is.)

Enables built-in memory viewer/ROM viewer/debugger. Move Spider-man (or other characters?) to the Right to enter the memory/ROM viewer. You can scroll through every ROM address, and every memory address by pressing X, Y, Z, or the directional pad. Press A to exit.

In the picture, you can see the end of RAM (FFFFFF), and the start of the ROM.

EDIT: I'm guessing the 2 blocks on the upper Left are the A and D registers? Will have to investigate that. I'm pretty sure the "0003AD5F" on the upper Right is the ROM address when it entered.
I've stumbled on some of these before with certain games. Mostly with Street Fighter II: Special Champion Edition & Super Street Fighter II. Except that I couldn't exit out & it also mentioned something about an error. I'd normally come across this while entering random codes & it would pop up only at certain point in a game such as when a character gets hit or just before the start of a stage.
Hacking games is always fun because you don't know what's hidden in the game.

                    • Phil, FFF55F seems to be the address for the number of times you capture a weapon with the Toz. I did get the cheat to work. Here's how...

I'm using Gens, so the exact RAM address may be slightly different for Kega.

Set the value of FFF55F to 128 (80 in hex) with a PAR code (FFF55F:80). Start the game. Your next enemy weapon you capture with your Toz will be the T-Vulcan. The T-Vulcan is a special hidden weapon.

                      • Phil, this code basically enables the 128 TOZ cheat for the T-Vulcan.

                        Gaiares (Genesis)

                        GB6A-AA3A +
                        RF6A-A6T4
Always get the T-Vulcan the first time you capture a weapon with your TOZ. You can only get the T-Vulcan once per mission. To save code space, use the 1st code by itself (GB6A-AA3A) and you'll usually get the T-Vulcan the 2nd time you capture a weapon with your TOZ. This code enables the 128 TOZ capture cheat.
