    • Outrun 2019 cheat menu (Genesis)...

Did some checking and couldn't find this anywhere online. There are a few sites that show a controller cheat for Level Select, but I read in a couple places that people couldn't get the cheat to work, and I tried many times without success.

This cheat adds 3 new options below the "Exit" text...

Haven't tested it much yet, but one nice cheat I found right off was the ability to turn off collision detection with other vehicles. Most of it appears to be for developer's.

Will see if there is a controller cheat to activate it. Here's a Game Genie code for now...

      AAET-CA8L
Enables cheat menu. In the Options menu, you'll have 3 new options: Stage, Mode, and Control. These will let you do things like: drive thru other cars without any collision, see your co-ordinates, etc.

          • Update on the Outrun 2019 cheat menu...

At anytime during a race, press A+B+C+Start together to exit to the Sega screen. Your settings in the option/cheat screen will still be there.

Besides cars, you can also turn off collision detection for other things like signs, posts, off road stuff, etc. Being able to drive thru most things makes the game much easier.

Here's a picture of the "Developer's" dash board...

There is normally a dash with a speedometer, power meter, timer, etc.

              • Figured out how to enable the Outrun 2019 cheat menu. I already submitted it to GameFAQs, so it's safe to post it. :-)

The method they use in the game for determining button presses is unusual. They compare a value of 20001207 to the value in a data register. Whenever you press a button on the controller, it stores the number of times you press each button in that register. Here's how the value they are comparing it to works... The value is 20001207. The first "2" is the number of times you need to press UP. The "1207" is the number of times you need to press A, B, and C respectfully, so you'll need to press "A" once, "B" twice, and "C" 7 times.

Some cool things about this method is that you can take as much time as you want, and you can press the buttons in ANY order, just as long as you press each button the required number of times.

Anyways, here's how to activate the cheat menu:

Press the Start button to get to the title screen that says "Start, Options, and Records". With "Start" highlighted, press UP twice so that "Options" is highlighted, then press A,B,B,C,C,C,C,C,C,C. Now press Start to enter the option menu and you'll have 3 new options: Stage, Mode, and Control.

You can select from 31 different tracks, disable most collision detection, see the ending credits, have a few different "developer" dashes, etc.

There is another hard coded cheat in there, but haven't had time to check it out yet. Back to work.

                • OutRun 2019 (U)

Using the following Game Genie code, you can access a hidden Title Screen in OutRun 2019 (U) [Genesis]
                  J2ET-DEZ2

After booting the game and getting to the Title Screen, press Up three times, then press Start.
You will then be greeted with the following image.

Normal Title screen where you press Up 3 times.

You can make a better code if you want, I just quickly threw it together.

                  • Cool Mez. This is also hard coded in the game, but haven't figured out what it does yet... With "Start" highlighted, press UP twice, then press C.

Your description of "New game, but cannot play it" was kinda vague.

                          • Hey Tony do you own the real Phantasy Star games? I remember Sega allowing the use of GG codes but by using the GG the save feature didn't work or rather it did but wouldn't actually save. So I was thinking if you could look into making a code to allow cheats and be able to save the game, an idea for something a little challenging perhaps.

                            • I own Phantasy Star 3, and I still remember many moons ago thinking that the battery was dead because it wouldn't save (with the GG attached). Replaced the battery but of course it still didn't save. Any Genesis game that uses battery saves, won't save with the Game Genie attached.

I'm pretty sure that it can't be fixed via codes. I was reading a post over at Sega-16, and someone figured out how to get it to work. Don't remember the details though. Will have to see if I can find the post again.
