  • Faulty Cheat Engine in GPSP?

Every version of GPSP Kai I've tried so far has had the same exact problem: it plays GBA games (even patched ones) just fine, but the cheat engine is completely broken. On both the Pokemon Fire Red and Pokemon Ruby hacks I was playing, I could only get two codes to work: infinite cash and infinite Master Balls. However, on Pokemon Ruby, I was only able to get the infinite cash code to work...via TempAR.

Then, seeking a GBA emulator with a fully-functioning cheat engine, I tried the original GPSP, version 0.9. Boy was I hot under the collar when I found out...it couldn't even play a single GBA game, even without any cheats active! All I got was the irritating "Black Screen of Death", forcing me to simply HOME out of the blasted piece of electronic gobbledygook.

Frankly, I'm beginning to get increasingly appalled at the disturbing proliferation of faulty/broken software and codes, while the actual working software and codes are becoming harder and harder to find. There are a scant few codes on this site which I have confirmed to be "fake" or otherwise non-working, possibly due to typos while the code's creator was copying it from his/her personal database, or due to an improperly administered decryption, encryption or conversion. I cannot completely count out the possibility of GPSP Kai's broken cheat engine causing the non-working codes and black-screen errors, though.

Might I request someone to point me in the right direction (before I pull my BEARD hairs out, one by one, out of sheer frustration...ow), in finding a GBA emulator for the PSP (mine is a white PSP Go with 6.20 pro-B10 cfw), complete with a fully functioning cheat engine?

gPSP 0.9 is very old outdated when kai was released

    gPSP Kai 3.4
    * does not support advance codetypes.
    * make sure you using correct (de/en)cryption labels.
    * make sure you using correct regional codes.

Alternative is convert GBA codes to CWcheats/TempAR

STILL Having Trouble with PSP GBA Emulator! UGH!

I believe I've asked something of this nature before, but (of course) my post went unanswered (as do most of my posts).

I've tried a wide variety of Action Replay and early Gameshark v1 codes for various Pokemon games on nine different GBA emulators for PSP, but hardly any of them work, and those which do, do so in a rather harmful way, as to glitch up the game, and in some cases, even render the game unplayable (slap a "Bad Egg" in the sixth Pokemon slot; throw a "internal battery dry" error--so I can't save are two examples).

Why can't I get any codes to work properly?! This is literally driving me nuts! Somebody PLEASE help!

By the way, here is the list of GBA emulators I've tried:

FIVE different versions of GPSP Kai

      GPSP Mod (latest version)

      Original GPSP 0.09

Three versions of GPSP-J (no cheat support whatsoever, so I quickly abandoned it)

PSP GBA (once again, no cheat support)

I can't find a copy of VBAonPSP anywhere. It's the one everyone says has the most complete cheat support, but it (supposedly) runs rather slow.

What was wrong with posting in this thread? Do you have to create a new thread each time you post about your PSP emulator problems (notice you post about it quite a bit)? Try to keep things organized, and don't post in a new thread unless it is something entirely different, or has no relation what so ever to another thread that you've created already.
Not taking any requests at this time.

Bored? Watch some of my hacks here.

Um this issue come with tha emu, its dunt fully suport all type of code, am sugest you just found ramem/cbreaker code, instead ar/gs, as ive testin out several codbreaker worked fine, or you can first use tha pc vba first and active what ar code you wanted and save it. Then port the sav file into gpsp and play it.:-)dood

This better be the last time you go posting numerous threads about the same thing when you have one already open. Next time will be a ban.

Could you clue this n00b into how to insert proper encryption labels, because it sounds like I have to do something more than just type "PAR_V3 Infinite Cash", then the actual Action Replay v3 code. I've tried using the enable codes (those "must be on" codes), but they have about as much effect on making the codes work as putting ice on a fire to make it burn hotter.

your best option just actually post
all the "non-working" codes with link to site the codes came from,
as is here "in this thread"

I found a Pokemon Ruby hack called Pokemon Light Platinum, which supposedly has all 493 Pokemon up to the 4th generation. I've gotten a couple of codes to work on Ruby, one (infinite Master Balls) via Action Replay code, and the other (Infinite Cash) via TempAR. There are other Action Replay codes which work as well (such as No Battle Tower Restrictions and possibly Infinite HP), but the first two I mentioned are the ones I'm really interested in, because I don't like "cheating" my Pokemon to be invincible or have maxed-out stats. I just prefer to be able to buy all the Potions, Antidotes, Parlyz Heals, et cetera, that I can fit into my Bag, and have an unlimited supply of Master Balls, so if I run into a wild Pokemon that hasn't been catalogued yet, I can simply stop and catch it. 'Nuff said.

The code in question (which works) is the Infinite Master Balls code (I found it on Youtube as a Codebreaker code).

I found out that converting Codebreaker codes into PAR_V3 format tends to make them work better than pre-made PAR_V3 codes for some reason.

                          Here is the code:

                          C674B60F B309F994

It gives you exactly 99 Master Balls in the first slot of your Balls pocket. It does not affect any other aspect of the game.

The second code I hacked on my own, for infinite cash, and the code is in CWCheat format:

                          0x203A4F50 0x000F423F

It gives you exactly 999999 yen. Your total may appear to go down when you buy things, but it only goes down to the amount that would result when the price of the items you just bought is subtracted from 999999. The code DOES work.

The list of non-working codes is nearly every code on this site that is already in PAR_V3 format. I believe that is because they were directly converted from Gameshark v1 or Action Replay v2 codes, and that type of direct encryption gives GPSP Kai fits.

Your best bet if you want to cheat on a Pokemon game using GPSP Kai is to stick to Ruby (and its many hacks), Sapphire and its hacks, and Mystery Dungeon Red (which I hacked a bunch of CWCheat codes for several months ago, and they were hosted on another site until it crashed for reasons unbeknownst to me).

Why not convert the codes to Codebreaker then reconvert to AR3?

there is no need for encrypting codes
