  • Taking requests for the following games

You'll probably need to use the games SLUS file. Also, you'll need to know ASM. Or at least one of the many versions of it.

I ought to mention that I've got a number of japanese games, though I can't think off the top of my head what all of them are.

Deathwing Zero: The opcode starting with 2400 is not a NOP, but an LI/LUI command. Most cases, a NOP would just crash the game. Using a load op somewhere odd tends to work better, but not all the time.

Oddly enough, in some cases that type of code can be fairly easy if you know what to look for. If you want to know a bit about how this can be done, check out this topic: http://www.thegshi.org/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=263

And, as it seems to be needed, I'm going to post something that's still not finished (blame King Edgar 0 for this)...

St3ph: You can hack assembly codes with an emulator and savestates, but it is a bit more complicated. On the other hand, if you know a little bit, you can get a full memory dump and load that into ps2dis, which would be a major improvement from just using a GSPro. It's not required to know ASM very well. I've managed to get away with hacking assembly codes by having a list of what each opcode does and a homemade list of the hex numbers for each opcode... I can tell you more about assembly hacking with an emulator if you'd like.

Deathwing Zero, 2: While in theory you could hack a playstation game using only the slus file... It'd be extremely hard to do much. I know people have been hacking ps2 codes that way, but ps2 games actually have information in those files. On a psx game, that file is almost always a solid block of code with some text thrown in from whatever they compiled it with.

I would like to know how to asm hack with an emulator, as I don't have access to a PSX anymore. The thread you posted is kind of vague in regards of how to go about it.

I never thought of doing a full ram dump then opening it with ps2 dis.. though that could be beacuse I don't know how to do a ram dump.

I ought to start another topic for this... But...

The way you get a full RAM dump out of a savestate is pretty easy, but requires knowing what the offset between the start of the state and the place where it stores the RAM is. Once you've got that, you just copy out the next 2 MB of the file, and save it as a binary.

help! a pro is still a pro . liquid, so it's possible to hack with an emulator.. so that means, where do we start from ? i think i have a ps2 dis program, but it works too ? cool~ i never knew that, i think i'll try later with the save state and stuffs. thanks

Hybrid I've got a question, do you have the ability to use breakpoints when you hack games?

Trying not to rerived the topic in anyway, but just a reminder, please here, Hybrid, as for the Chrono Cross codes.

I just wanted to bring up the work and things LMZ was trying to do as far as names awhile back, as again 'names' on Chrono Cross is corny, some names remain what you 'name' them always, and some always revert back to defaults...silly, and stupid of Square I shall say, but is as is.

Anyway, unless a code that names is found by you, again like LMZ was trying, may I please suggest a 'room' mod if that is possible. The room mod I mean that 'Nu' epoch room in the libary basement where you can go and talk to Nu and get your name changed. A room mod like maybe hit L2 to enter that room and ofcorse a 'way' to get out without any hang ups or locking of the game.

Again really my thing is, I wish to 'name' all charatcers as I wish truely, and you can 'enable' all but Sniff. (enable Sniff before the story allows you to get him and you get stuck in the game) ...but all others, though could not 'name' right off, I tried and that all goes okay and fine, so thing is again mainly a way to name those few who always revert back.

Thus again with that if that fails 'code wise' as LMZ was working on, and I do believe that would work if we could get in and out of the room by a button press and nothing locks up, the in game Nu name change room would be it.

Again sorry for being so long in explaining this, but again, just I do fill if code wise is not 'savible' that room mod seems like the right thing, again well if it can be done without the locking up, as sometimes room mods do if done in the wrong places.

This game is strange...can have Zoah (one who's name reverts abck and one I want to have named so badly) anywya testing the all charatcers codes, can even have him fighting himself in the game and it all goes like it was not even him beating himself...odd mess in games.

To hack the status mod for Castlevania SOTN you may need to use breakpoints.. I'm pretty sure you can use them in GSCCC2k. But using an emulator its impossible, unless your pad plugin supports emulation of LPT which may fool gsccc2k into thinking you have a playstation connected.

Even if you did somehow have the port emulated, then you'd still need to be able to emulate the cheat device itself. Is that even possible on any of the current emulators?

And anyway, GSCC doesn't support breakpoints, unless you're using an N64 GSPro...

Congratulations on the CvChrnoicles purchase. I think that game is getting kinda rare now. It was on a limited 10k run.

The codes have been added. I added four ? to the end of the P1 has a Racing Spec Version of his car code cause it had no value on it. If you want that changed let me know.
