I thought I explained why fceux was previously inferior in regards to genie codes. Since last fall that bug has been fixed. I now don't understand how Nestopia could be any better in utilizing genie codes than fceux. Could you give me an example of a genie code that doesn't work in fceux but does in Nestopia? I really believe that such a conclusion was reached by user error.

I agree with Hybrid that the ultimate test is real hardware. I also want to add that the best codes are the ones that accomplish the desired effect with the fewest lines, emulator or not.

A genie code is a raw code, but encrypted; which is a more accurate term than converted. The genie unscrambles the letters and comes up with the same address, value, and /or compare as contained in the raw code. I believe the genie always ORs the address with 0x8000, so that it's always writing to the rom area of the system's memory in the case that someone enters a wrong letter.

And I'll add when I was a kid, back in NES's prime days, I used a genie on spy hunter to find that it looped and never ended. So considering the point of the game is to achieve a high score, using an infinite lives code or an invincibility code makes the game pretty boring.

I would like to think that someone with a Masters in Psychology, amongst other likely dubious titles, is smarter than this and is capable of keeping his word.

Then you go ahead and post a reply in this same thread today at Saturday, March 31st. 2012 at 5:22AM:

Here are some torture methods you would receive for lying in the medieval ages. I suggest the headcrusher:

Here is the code in action by the way:

I said it's more likely for a working Game Genie code to work in Nestopia rather than FCE Ultra...not FCEUX. That's one of the reasons why I suggested to Rune to update his FCE Ultra emulator to the newest FCEUX.

        Absolutely. I agree as well.

And Rune, I meant I am not going to post any further replies to YOU because it's not worth the time arguing with someone like yourself.

Now broadcasting from the underground command post. Deep in the bowels of a hidden bunker. Somewhere under the brick & steel of a nondescript building. We've once again made contact w/ our leader, OSG

Exactly. Why bother arguing when you'll just lose and appear like a liar (3-4 replies already) to the whole boards and all of the visitors here!

I have more Spy Hunter videos but here's one just for fun!

Rune OSG stop bickering honestly enough is enough
i have the game coming in soon

and what i meant is by it not a good thing is this people make codes for emulators only and which are only tested emulator someone tries it on hardware and it don't work
i've run into codes which worked on hardware and not emulators and vise versa

I have the game already, I can test them on my nes. I'll edit this post after doing so.

              EDIT:

On real hardware, the game starts, and then resets instantly after the first level starts. I believe that even though the spy hunter game was re-released, the prg was not revised and there is only one USA dump, so make sure you are using the correct region. When testing, in order to test correctly, make sure your codes are enabled before you boot the game. This way you'll know if it works on real hardware. Otherwise you'll need to add a note as to when to enable the code.

If this code works without a hitch on Nestopia, then it's fceux that is more accurate than it.

I checked the code and the first line causes the crash. The 2 lines are writing to the same address.

                Code:

AESOOZSA | 9AD9:00:85 - Big no no you never use BRK or 00 to replace an opcode.
                KXSOOZSA | 9AD9:A4:85 - This will work.
This is why is good to know assembly.

That makes a hell of a lot of sense, I didn't even think to check the code. Thanks nolberto82.

                  KXSOOZSA works on real hardware.

wouldn't using an LDA be more apt for the code instead of the LDY?

You can use LDA or LDY since the next opcode is LDY.

James, please do not attempt to provoke me with your incessant, futile campaign. That's all I ask.

                        Thanks.

                          Dear Jason,

I feel nothing but pity for your transformation from a genuinely eager hacker as "Kong K. Rool" into "Parasyte", the bitter man who attempts to point the accusing finger of responsibility at others and fears to look within at his own character. You wholeheartedly exchanged innocent enthusiasm for the avarices of the corporate world. Look no further than your insecurity to post pay-cheques from your current job onto an online forum for everyone to see whilst gloating about your excessive wealth. This is not the behaviour of someone who was a member of GSCentral near the beginning but rather the actions of a little boy who wishes to please others waywardly. It is a dark highway on the road of life.

Your decision to pursue "C/Kodewerx" was nothing short of a personal lust for power and control. It was an act of selfishness and it quickly failed, just like your previous attempts to gain absolute power in past positions. That kind of behaviour is unacceptable at a website that established the standard creed of honour of the many above the prestige of the individual. That website was and still is GSCentral. Come visit us sometime and see how we think very differently and lack the constant swelling of egos.

You really ought to know better than this.

                          Respectfully yours,

                          Jim

Can we cut this bullshit already?Always starting arguments and bickering over old shit that no one care about anymore, why keep trying to add fuel to a dead fire? Let it go and move on.
