  • New GG Code (Spy Hunter, NES)

    AESOOZSA
    KXSOOZSA

All cars in the game are enemy cars (shooters, tire slashers and bulletproof). There is an extra red van or two that shows up either when you die or get a special weapon. Thank you to Nolberto82 for finding the "No Enemies" code which I based this code from.

Hey there. I attempted to use this code with FCE Ultra Debug 2.1.4a and the game just kept rebooting in the emulator. Are you using the real hardware or a different emulator?

I am using a MAC NES emulator called Nestopia. I took those codes from Noberto82 and plugged them into a game genie code converter for MAC and messed around with the variables to get those two codes I posted. Perhaps using a MAC emulator makes a difference?

"Nintendulator" and "Nestopia" are the two most accurate NES emulators. If a Game Genie code works for both of them, then it will almost positively work on the real hardware.

I tied it again and I still get the same results as I posted. Is it perhaps the ROM might be different when it was made from other ROMS?

Don't worry nuomega457, your code works fine. I just tested it on Nestopia 1.40 (Windows XP 32-bit.) Sometimes working Game Genie codes don't work on the emulator FCEUX/FCE Ultra. I've seen this happen numerous times. That's why it's always better to test Game Genie codes on Nestopia rather than a FCEUX/FCE Ultra emulator. I would recommend Rune (and everyone for that matter) to use Nestopia 1.40 when they test NES Game Genie codes.

Also, I recommend that Rune update his FCE Ultra emulator to the latest official stable release, which is "FCEUX 2.1.5". The 2.1.5 release fixes a lot of bugs and brings various improvements to the prior 2.1.4a release. In addition, the SDL port has improved signficantly; completely overhauling the GTK2 GUI, fixing many sound issues, and fixing a variety of bugs.

Also in FCEUX to properly use a GG code of 8 characters you need to input it through the Debug->Game Genie Encoder/Decoder and then type the code there and hit "Add to Cheat List".

The newest releases are not necessarily the best -- as my results reveal. FCEUX 2.1.5 still reboots within seconds of using those Game Genie codes. Or hell, think of the latest Gens emulator.

Nestopia v1.40 fortunately allows the game to function and the Game Genie code works! It will never be my emulator of choice still due to its poor choice of cheat-file format. Just be careful to add a proper code note that the code does not function in all emulators in the future.

I didn't recommend it to be your emulator of choice. But I do recommend using it to test a Game Genie code before saying that it does not work.

Did you forget that it was tested and did not work? Nestopia isn't the standard emulator in the scene for the old-school; FCE Ultra Debug is.

I tested it and it worked fine in Nestopia 1.40

I understand that FCEUX is the 'standard' emulator in the scene for hacking the NES. I never said it wasn't nor did I recommend to use Nestopia instead of it to hack. And I think more hackers use FCEUX rather than the older FCE Ultra.

Just to be sure, Spy Hunter does or does not have an actual ending?

I'm 99% sure this game has no ending. I would loooooooove to be proven wrong on this.

There is no ending. I personally think this is an extremely overated game. I understand that it was ahead of it's time for it's arcade version and that's what made this game popular.... but it's extremely boring and repetitive.

I am giving you the benefit of the doubt that you are merely being facetious here and not sincerely dense because clearly Nestopia is only one of many Nintendo emulators available. The average code consumer will test the code and mark it off as being added in error because a code note was not provided with the original code that states the code only functions in Nestopia. That is the main argument in our mini-debate, not squirreling away from that topic to start discussing whether FCEUX is used more than FCEU. That's hardly relevant to this thread and Spy Hunter in general.

@ Helder/Adaml: I have never heard of any beating this game, just recall the high scores posted years ago in ancient Nintendo Power magazines.
