Why do you guys think some random guy would care if some random website is secured or not?

The biggest sigh of relief is that my music modifier codes are indeed elsewhere... I typically post them to the SNESMusic.org forums first.

      http://snesmusic.jukor.net/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=10

There is that SPC Boredom Hacking topic started by the late ugetab... I last posted there way back in 2010, just before the music modifier topic was created. Now I have made a HUGE collection of music modifiers (at least somewhere along the lines 100 games) and believe me, with my hex editing magic, there have been a lot of games that I have managed to crack open. I've probably found more unused or unknown SNES music than anyone else... maybe with a couple of exceptions. And sometimes I can figure out if they're really unused or not.

I have overflowed the 20,000 character limit with my huge shipment of codes once, requiring me to make two posts, and just recently, I posted one of the longest PAR codes to the SNESMusic.org forums and GSCentral... there is a hidden bank in Dorque and Imp (unreleased, but you can find the game via Unseen64... there are three ROMs, one for each world. I made the code for the Mine Stage.) that requires around 75 lines of PAR code. I got away thanks to the relatively large amount of ROM text in there, as otherwise it was completely missing.

However, for all of those other hackers (not the website hacker)... it's these websites that we showcase our ability to invent codes that can do various stuff... which in my case is inventing music modifiers that allow you to play any piece of music, typically at one point.

So, GSC is still down? At a glance, I can hit some pages, but most of them end up leading nowhere, or to SQL errors, etc.

Backups should definitely be taken, and a proper system of recovery put in place and tested. If you don't have anyone with the required expertise, perhaps your host can tell you a little about what occurred, and how to correct the site's security shortcomings. Just a thought.
        I may be lazy, but I can...zzzZZZzzzZZZzzzZZZ...

Any idea who that hacker SweZape is? Why did he choose your website to deface? Why would he care if your website is secured or not? Any ideas?

Well, it wasn't just GSCentral but several other sites provided by dlevere here.
I only bother with things that interest me.

Yea I saw that. But why would one care if those websites were secured or not? I'm trying to understand the Pyschology of it.

The site was taken down most recently by us, not by a hacker. This was clarified on our vBulletin, which has remained stable for at least a week now. Since then, the hacker has become a good friend of GSCentral and has helped improve the website's security. We have also taken additional measures to improve the security and will be getting the modified pages up momentarily.

this really makes both you and GSCentral as a whole look like a bunch of n00bs.

not only did your site get defaced twice by some script kiddy, but you're also pathetic enough to need someone like that to tell you what to fix and how to fix it. too funny.

Good sir, you misunderstand the realities of the Internet today. Popular websites get hacked into all the time. Hackers do it for the hell of it. Life goes on.

We already had a general idea of what needed to be fixed before being approached. This was an excellent opportunity to improve security.

Being hacked and your uncalled animosity reveals how quickly the website is growing and that we are on due course to become even better!

Sadly, yes, GSCentral.org is dead, for all intents and purposes (except as a haven for annoying spambots).

Also, you just necroposted on a thread that's been dead for OVER TWO YEARS.

Admins, I politely request that this thread be locked, due to its current (and future) lack of relevancy.
                            Tempus fugit, ergo, carpe diem.

Time flies, therefore, seize the day.
