Yeah but who cares about the factory controllers when you can use the original controllers?Originally posted by BigBossman View PostI thought about getting a Retron 3 (its cheaper than buying all 3 systems), but I've heard the controllers are crummy & I don't know if the Game Genie would work on it or not. One of the reviews that someone posted on Amazon said that the controllers are of the same quality of a remote control & not like an Xbox 360 or PS3 controller. I have a Retrogen (similar to the Sega Nomad) & the Game Genie will not work on it. It does the same thing that it normally does when you try to use it on a Model 2 or 3 Genesis. I don't own a home computer so getting games on a flash cart is not an option. Owning the cartridges brings back memories of wasted hours sitting in front of the TV.
I have been collecting them & the bad part is I'm starting run out of room of where to put them. To make matters worse, there are numerous games I haven't even played yet. I'm the same way with my combined 280+ Xbox & Xbox 360 games. Since I got back into playing the Genesis, I haven't played the Xbox for almost two months now.
That's basically the whole reason I chose this clone over some of the others.
I can confirm that both the Game Genie and Pro Action Replay for Genesis work on the RetroN3.
The NES Game Genie works, and also SNES Game Genie and PAR work, Game Boy Game Genie too (through the Super Gameboy).

I didn't know that you could use the orginal controllers with the Retron 3. That's good to know. I might be looking iton buying one if the Genesis Game Genie works in it. I never knew that you could plug the Gameboy Game Genie into the Super Gameboy. I wish I would have thought of that back when I had it.Originally posted by Mezmorize View PostYeah but who cares about the factory controllers when you can use the original controllers?

Today I went to the flea market & traded in 70 of my Xbox & Xbox 360 games for 16 Genesis games. Plus I had to take one back to one of the vendors because it didn't work. In total this week, I racked up 17 games without having to spend a dime. I also managed to make some much needed room by clearing out those games I haven't played much. I posted my new aquisitions to the already gargantuan list.Last edited by BigBossman; 03-05-2011, 08:18:29 PM.Hacking games is always fun because you don't know what's hidden in the game.

I have a genny 1, and a genny 2 with 32x
sonic 1-3 and knuckles, aladdin, mortal kombat, comix zone, super sfII.
Doom 32x, nba jam tourney 32x, mkII 32x.
I was more of a nintendo kid growing up, so naturally those collections are much bigger in my house.

I did too. I had an NES & an SNES. I'll get back into collecting games for those systems soon. At some point, I want to get a Retron 3, which plays all three (Genesis, NES, & SNES). It was what I call "Time well wasted".Last edited by BigBossman; 03-08-2011, 06:55:14 PM.Hacking games is always fun because you don't know what's hidden in the game.
