  • finding cheats using gba emulators

I am using artmoney (a fairly decent memory finder util) and batgba, boycott advance as well as rascalboy (via the xpad util, downloaded from this site)

I don't really like visual boy advance (and the numerous offshoots of it) as they tend to load dynamically in memory each time you load up the emu (unlike the abvove mentioned emulators which load statically in memory...i.e where the program is emulating GBA ram is always in the same area of pc memory which means you don't need to keep finding cheats)

Anyway i would like to know how to convert from GBA ram cheats (found with artmoney) ...i believe they are called 'raw codes' and convert them to Action replay/gameshark alike cheats

And also converting action replay/gameshark codes back to raw codes for use with artmoney

as far as i understand it the gba uses 2 area's of it's memory for the codes

    02000000 - 02003ffff
    and 03000000 - 03007fff

I know that some people here use something called mappy vm, which is similar to rascalboy advance (as they both use a debugger)...however i found that mappy vm doesn't like some of my roms, unlike rascalboy (no problems at the mo)

Ive already found out where in pc memory the emulators are emulating the gba (espexcially the area's of memory mentioned above)

    any help, greatly appreciated

Using vba it has its own cheat search function that looks in the right GBA ram not PC ram as its not necessary to look into any other ram besides the gba game's ram. I dont see why you dont use the vba emulator's features.

Yeah, and there are at least two versions of VBA that have been modified specifically for hacking:

I found a program (not from this site ) that convverts 02x and 03x, (raw codes) to codebreaker, so i'll think i'll stick with that

all yo do is change the 0 in the beginning of the code to an 8 or 3 depending on the code's value.

OK...but I don't see why you'd insist on adding an extra two layers to the hacking process (running an external application, and converting with an app that isn't required). Still, whatever suits you.
