    Hey all, I'm new here. I'm posting cause I worked out a code that I haven't seen posted around anywhere.

    The official Game Genie codes only allow you to get Super Sonic with 1 or more rings, but with a lot of tinkering I managed to figure out how to get it to work without any at all. It's gotta be done with a combo of codes, but it works for the Super and Hyper forms of both Sonic and Knuckles, in regular S&K and also in S3&K.

    Here they are:
    Code:
    AANT-CAHL (become Super/Hyper Sonic with 0 rings)
    AB6A-CADA (become Super/Hyper Knuckles with 0 rings)
    AAPT-CACT (make 0-ring Super/Hyper transform last more than a second. It freezes your rings at 0 if you transform with 0, but if you transform with 1+ the on-screen ring count freezes even though it's actually still counting down)
    NTPT-CA50 (don't use up rings to maintain the transformation. This code has the side effect of normalizing the behavior of the previous one: when you collect rings they are counted as normal, regardless of whether you transform with 0 or with 1+)
    And to actually use Super/Hyper Sonic or Knuckles in the early levels, the 0-emerald codes:
    Code:
    AANT-CAG6 (Super Sonic)
    AB6A-CACW (Super Knuckles)
    AB6A-CACL + AB6A-CAHR (Hyper Sonic)
    AANT-CAGY + AAPA-CAB8 (Hyper Knuckles)

    Impressive codes. I would guess it took a while to create all the codes, and beyond that, a complete code set is compatible with a real Game Genie. An ideal design for any set of codes.

          Sonic 2 codes

          EDIT: I posted a little prematurely. I've got all the Sonic 2 codes working the same as the S3&K codes now.

          I did some poking around the Sonic 2 ROM, looking for similar hex strings and I managed to figure out the same codes as above but applied to Sonic 2.
          Code:
          ACZT-CACJ (become Super Sonic with 0 rings)
          AGZT-CAGG (make 0-ring Super transform last more than a second. It freezes your rings at 0 if you transform with 0, but if you transform with 1+ the on-screen ring count freezes even though it's actually still counting down)
          ACZT-CAHN (don't use up rings to maintain the transformation. This code has the side effect of normalizing the behavior of the previous one: when you collect rings they are counted as normal, regardless of whether you transform with 0 or with 1+)

          There's a glitch that seems unrelated to the Game Genie cheats where if you jump after you change back to normal Sonic at the end of the act, you can freeze in the walking stance. It's okay if you do it after the text comes up on-screen telling you your act score, but if you do it before you're screwed, so watch out for that. They fixed this is Sonic 3 & Knuckles by not allowing you to change back into Super/Hyper Sonic until the next act.

          And to clarify, I didn't make the "don't use up rings" or "0-emerald" codes for Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Those are all official Galoob codes. All of the others are ones I made though.

            And just for the hell of it, the same codes but for Sonic 3 alone (NOT attached to Sonic & Knuckles). All the codes are my own except the "doesn't use up rings code", which is official Galoob.
            Code:

              The next thing I wanna try to figure out is Super Tails in S3&K with 0 emeralds... I don't even know where to begin. I tried searching for stuff similar to the Hyper Sonic/Knuckles hex strings (since you get Super Tails by the same method as them), but nothing I found worked. :?

                Hmm I actually found the Super Tails 0 emerald and 0 rings codes pretty easily now, but the one to allow you to actually use 0 rings for more than a second and the one to freeze the ring timer are proving more difficult. Here's the two I found (these are for the combined game Sonic 3 & Knuckles):

                  Oh wow, in the course of trying to find a ring timer freezer for Super Tails, I found one that freezes the timers for all 3 Supers and both Hypers in S3&K and both Supers/Hypers in S&K, AND allows you to be Super/Hyper for more than 1 second if you have no rings. Hence, this code replaces both AAPT-CACT and NTPT-CA50 from the first post.

                  Now, I wonder if it's possible to get the Hypers in normal Sonic 3...

                    I feel like a dork to keep on replying to myself, but I also just found the same code for Sonic 2 (replaces AGZT-CAGG and ACZT-CAHN):

                        Perhaps the Hyper forms were an afterthought. To give them a reason to have emerald collecting in Sonic and Knuckles, and while S and K is attatched to Sonic 3. That would be why the Hyper form probably isn't in Sonic 3.

                          Thanks for adding them. Yeah, the Hyper forms don't seem to be in the Sonic 3 cart at all. The data is apparently contained in S&K, hence why you can get the Hypers in normal S&K with a Game Genie even though you're only "supposed" to be able to get them when locked onto Sonic 3. It should be possible to become Super Tails in normal S&K if anyone comes up with a code to first be able to play as normal Tails.

                          For what it's worth, I found that "Super Tails" is possible in normal Sonic 3 from checking out what happens when you use Debug Mode and make an "S" box. BUT the sprite is just a garbled mess and there are no flickies flying around to attack enemies, not even invisible ones. So it's just invincibility, more speed (I think), and a higher jump.

                          The weird thing is, if you defeat a normal enemy as "Super Tails" in Sonic 3 that normally turns into a blue flicky and flies away, it actually changes into a flashing gold flicky and flies away. So at least part of the Super Tails flicky code exists in Sonic 3 itself.

                            Shoot, not to be a bother, but you left the codes in that I "replaced" with the better ones later, and also only one of the normal Sonic 2 codes is listed. I also just noticed that I mixed up the Hyper Sonic and Hyper Knuckles 0-emerald codes. Doh. :x To clarify, here are all of the final codes. The others should be removed.

                              Ok, they have been corrected. Are you good at finding area mods? I tried to make a bonus room mod so I could have you collect the Unused Golden Emerald in Sonic 3 during gameplay. I thought perhaps that could uncover it's hidden use. But I didn't have much luck.
