  • [GBA] Disney's Magical Quest 2 Starring Mickey and Minnie (ARv3, NTSC)

    Hi,

In the past I have noticed ARv3 codes for 2 of the 3 games in a certain Disney trilogy of GBA games, except for the second game, which happens to be based on the SNES version of The Great Circus Mystery, IIRC...anyway, if I may, I'd like to request a few ARv3 codes for this game, please (I'm tempted to ask for a Master Code for this game too in the same format, just incase I end up buying a copy of the game someday in the distant future).

So anyway, the codes I'm looking for are:

-infinite lives (for both Mickey and Minnie)
-infinite health (for both Mickey and Minnie)
    -max coins
-infinite energy for Sweeper outfit (and if possible, also applying to the version that uses half the energy of the regular Sweeper outfit)
-infinite energy for Western Wear outfit (and if possible, also applying to the version that uses half the energy of the regular Western Wear outfit)

    Thanks in advance.

      Thank you so much helder!

I tested all the codes, and I found they work.

Okay, well I don't like bumping my own topic or double posting, but now that I own a copy of Disney's Magical Quest 2, I'm afraid I have a bit of bad news...I attempted the Master Code helder gave me here, and it didn't work for me, giving me an error much like what I used to have with the first Master Code I had gotten for the sequel to this game, aka Disney's Magical Quest 3...isn't an ARv3 Master Code for a GBA game supposed to be at least 4 lines (of 8 digits each)?

Thanks helder, but I think the real Master Code for this game has to be something longer than each of the Master Codes you have given me so far...aren't all GBA games that can be used with ARv3 supposed to have a Master Code that is in the format below (2 lines instead of 1)?

            XXXXXXXX
            YYYYYYYY
            XXXXXXXX
            YYYYYYYY

Where the X's make up the first half of a line, and the Y's make up the second half of a line, I mean.

See if any of these work:

              Code:
              [COLOR=#ff0000]Master Code #1[/COLOR]
              60C5E205 61FBA8A3
              A5FBB154 0910C1D9

              [COLOR=#008000]Master Code #2[/COLOR]
              3327296B D8664D80
              A5FBB154 0910C1D9
Same as before: Red = Doesn't Work, Blue = Haven't tested yet, Green = Works.
I only bother with things that interest me.

Okay...well, I didn't have any success with the first Master Code, but I did have success with the second one in conjunction with the other codes helder made (I tested all of them except the All Costumes Selectable code), so thanks again, both of you.

Alright, cool. I'll add the second one to the DB then.

                    Okay, cool.

Now, I've been testing all of the codes I've tried for this game, yet some of them have some odd effects:

-the Infinite Health code is a little weird, if the player only has the number of hearts they started the game with (5 for easy, 3 for normal, 2 for hard), they won't lose any hearts if they don't collect any of the big hearts (the ones that refill any lost hearts and add an extra heart to their health meter), but if they have gotten additional hearts through the big hearts, those extra hearts will be able to be emptied, but after that, again depending on the difficulty, they won't lose any more hearts after they have 5, 3, or 2 full hearts left.

-the Infinite Lives code is also a little weird, if the player collects any extra lives, the life count will seemingly go down to one or two lives left (represented by x0 or x1 respectively), but their lives will still be infinite, and "reset" if the player loses a life.

-the 999 coins code seems to show 000 for Mickey & Minnie's coin total sometimes, but other than that, works fine.

Now, one more thing that has me baffled here, one or more codes seem to be causing my score to reset to zero at some point in each level...is that a normal behaviour? I'm curious, because this is the first time I can remember seeing a code that appears to have the additional side effect of occasionally resetting the player's score to zero.

I decrypted these two codes and it seems as if helder made a tiny mistake; he used a 32-bit write for the coins when he should have used a 16-bit. By using a 32-bit, he wrote on the lives address as well since it's in that range. Some odd thing I realized is that this game uses 0x999 for max coins when it should be using 0x3E7 since 0x3E7 equals 999 in hex...

Anyway, here is the coin code fix:
                      Code:
                      Infinite Coins
                      C0DB6E49 2A593AC8

The lives code is fine on my end, but I'm unsure about the health code (I haven't tested it yet). I think I'll play a little more in a second.

Edit 1: In response to the health code, could you somehow get more hearts or is 2 (hard), 3 (normal), and 5 (easy) the most you could get on that specific difficulty?
Edit 2: I found this in a quick search ...

                          Addresses:
                          Code:
0x02020E88 - determines the selected difficulty
0x0202ECA0 - determines if you're actually in that difficulty
                          Values:
                          Code:
                          0x0 - Easy
                          0x1 - Normal
                          0x2 - Hard
Nothing seems to happen when you mod the first address except the selected difficulty will change. When you mod the second address, you mod the actual difficulty (it determines how many lives you'll start off with). So if you can't get any more health than what you start off with, you can use these addresses as a check for the difficulty and mod your health accordingly.

Regardless of which difficulty you play the game on, you can always get more hearts added to your health meter (that happens to apply to the entire Magical Quest trilogy)...also, I believe I figured out what was causing my score to occasionally reset to zero, it was the old Infinite Coins code (I'm using the new one now, and so far in the new game I started, it hasn't reset my score to zero at any random time)...am I right?

Edit: Demonic722, can you please check the infinite health code? I may have overlooked something with its effects...in the new game I started (I started it on Normal), that code seems to make the player able to have 2 hearts as the minimum number of full hearts (it's something similar to the Infinite Health code for Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land, where the player can lose one bar of health while their health is full, but no more afterward)...in other words, if the player chooses to start with three hearts, the first hit they take will make one of their hearts empty, but subsequent hits won't make them lose hearts unless their hearts are refilled, or they get more added onto the health meter.

What is the maximum number of hearts you can get?

Edit 1: Seems like the most is 10.
Edit 2: This game is ugly as hell:
Edit 3: Okay, I managed to get an infinite health code working (without invincibility), but you have 9 hearts instead of 10.
Edit 4: This Infinite Health Code should work flawlessly...I tested it on the first level and the test results were good. You'll have 10 hearts that will never deplete.

                              Code:
                              Infinite Health
                              8E08F353 D46DAF31
                              F4083AAF 63ACE11A

                              Infinite Health + Invincibility [Note]
                              F4083AAF 63ACE11A
                              A3EEBB15 49E17C70
Note: That should give you 10 hearts and make you invincible. You can still hit enemies/bosses, but they can't hit you.
When you set the hearts to 10 without the invincibility, it seems as if you can't hit enemies and enemies can't hit you.
