Not sure how practical these are since the default controller options are loaded as soon as you turn the game on. Which means, you need to reset the game with the codes enabled to activate them or hack them into your ROM.

You don't have to reset the game for these to take effect. It doesn't matter what is set in the Options Menu, the game will always default to the 6 Button Mode when using a 6 Button Controller.
