  • Game Genie hacking ideas for Double Dragon (Genesis)

I noticed there weren't many codes posted for this game, so I thought of some other Game Genie ideas for the Genesis version:

    1. Start each stage with a weapon (bat, knife, whip, or throwing object)
    2. Can't lose a weapon when knocked down
    3. Can't lose a weapon once picked up (for knives, boxes, barrels, & boulders)
    4. Enemies die after 1st knockdown
    5. Jump higher
    6. Jump further
    7. Walk slower (like the arcade version)
    8. Enemies are not afraid to walk off the edge (*see my note below)
    9. Spear in Mission 4 moves faster & more repeatidly
    10. Billy Lee is dressed in red (like Jimmy Lee - Player 2)
    11. Billy Lee is dressed in green (like 2nd stage boss)
    12. Billy Lee looks like other enemies
    13. Throw box in Mission 2 onto ledge (so you can use it at the end of the stage)
    14. Dynamite doesn't explode
    15. Abobo in Mission 1 & Mission 4 can't bust through the walls (this would probably be a bad idea & not allow you to go any further)
    16. Start on Mission 2
    17. Start on Mission 3
    18. Start on Mission 4
    19. No enemies
    20. Have other weapons laying around on each stage **

    * This would make enemies less defensive. On Mission 2, when you step onto the elevator, the enemies will normally stand still at the edge & won't get on the elevator to fight you. Also the code I'm thinking of would cause enemies to walk over holes & water to get to you, which would make them fall to their doom.

** I know that this idea is probably a bit of a stretch. I just think it would be cool if you could find weapons on the ground in different spots in areas where you normally wouldn't find them.

      Some more...

      Double Dragon

      EKET-AAG8
      Jump higher.

      MVET-AAG8
      Jump much higher.

      AFNT-AAA2
      Walk slower (horizontally).

      APNT-AAA2
      Walk faster (horizontally).

      JLWA-AA7C
If you walk upwards to a building or wall, you will instantly jump to the top of the building/screen. If you walk upwards to a building with a ledge, you will instantly jump up on the ledge without having to use the ladder. If your character disappears, just press "Down" and he will jump back down.

      =====================================

The last code originally started out as a walk thru walls code, but I thought this one was more interesting. With that code, you can also walk all the way back into allies. Note that enemies can't get to you when you're on top of the buildings.

        More Ideas:

        21. Never fall down when dropping from big heights (always land on your feet)
        22. Always throw weapons like knives or like boulders, barrels, & boxes
        23. Boulders, barrels, & boxes never disappear
        24. Conveyor belt in Mission 2 moves faster
        25. Conveyor belt in Mission 2 moves in opposite direction
        26. Invincibility after loosing 1st life (always blinking) - This would probably only work till the end of the stage

I managed to find a few other Game Genie codes for Double Dragon for Sega Genesis:

          1. ACCT-AMVE
Enemies don't attack nearly as much (Most enemies will just stand there, but on occasion they will attack with a jump kick or try to punch you out of the air. Abobo can also throw you if you try walking into him. You can definetely tell the difference in the way the enemies attack when this code is on & when its turned off)

          2. LD0T-ADDR
Enemies are more defensive (enemies will counter you just about everytime you attack; if you use the rear elbow attack, they will duck it; If you try a jump kick, they will move out of range; Trying to punch & kick is next to impossible)

          3. 4PCA-ALYG
Barrells, Boulders, Boxes, & Knives will disappear when thrown up against a wall (you have to be up close to a wall, throw it, & it disappears)

I'll see what else I can come up with.

            I found this code:

            M3GA-BCPY
Some enemies disappear when hit with a jumpkick. If you get hit with some weapons or get hit with a jumpkick, you disappear & die.

When I played using this code, I made the 1st two enemies disappear by jumpkicking them. Not all enemies will disappear, but some will. When I got to the guy that carries the bat, he hit me with the bat & I disappeared. Then I lost a life & reappeared. Dynamite also has the same effect. I haven't tested it with the whip, barrells, or knife.

I've been working on a code that I found for this game. I forgot to bring it with me (to work). It causes enemies to move slower (like in the arcade version). There's one major bug with it though: When you get to Mission 3, the first two enemies will suddenly disappear & then the game will reset automatically. If anyone can help with this, that'll be great. I'll make sure that I bring it with me when I come to work tomorrow morning & I'll post it. I'm going to keep working at it again tonight & see what happens.

I worked on that code some last night & here is what a came up with:

                  BBNA-BNTE
Enemies move faster on Missions 1, 2, & 4 / Enemies move slower on Mission 3
Note: Normally, you will walk a little bit faster than your enemies. This code makes them walk as fast as you do

                  ABNA-BBTE
                  Enemies move faster on Missions 2 & 4 / Enemies move slower on Missions 1 & 3
Note: Normally, you will walk a little bit faster than your enemies. This code makes them walk as fast as you do

I was trying to find one that makes your enemies walk slower for all of the stages, but the origianal one I found would only let me get as far as Mission 3. This is it:

                  BBNA-BNTR
Enemies moves slower; Game will automatically reset just past the elevator lift in Mission 3

If someone can fix it to get to the end of the game, please let me know.

                    Here's a few more:

                    BBNA-BNTC
Enemies moves faster on all stages
Note: Normally, you will walk a little bit faster than your enemies. This code makes them walk as fast as you do

                    BBNA-BNTJ
Enemies move slower on all stages
Note: Some enemies will walk erratically until you hit them, then they will move slower.

                      I found another:

                      ??RT-BNLJ
Modifies the sound effect when you use the whip

                      Replace ?? with:
AF - Move forward sound effect
                      AK - Unknown sound
                      AV - Male enemy dies
                      AZ - Female enemy dies
                      A3 - Player dies

I'm sure there are other sound effects that can be found, I just didn't spend much time retrying the code over & over again. I know there are some that will automatically reset the game. I'll do some more testing & see what I come up with. I personally would like to get the dynamite, knife, & machine gun sound effects.

                        Found a couple more:

                        DEGA-BCBN
"Victory" music is played on the title screen instead of the "Opening" theme

                        DEBA-ABTJ
Players & enemies land on their feet when thrown

                          Thread updated.

Also, if it's not too much trouble, please format your codes in this order.

                          1. Code Title
                          2. Actual Code
                          3. Notes (if any)

Most attacks won't knock you or most enemies down
                              PY1T-AJCT
NOTE: The only way to kill an enemy is to floor them. There are two ways to do this: Attack the enemy when they jump or grab & throw them. Sometimes the back elbow attack & jump kick will hit the enemy twice. When you get to a part where Abobo is, turn the Game Genie off, becuase you'll never kill him.

                              Dark Stages
                              BSBT-AJPR
NOTE: This causes text to be messed up & causes the enitire game (including the title screen) to be black. You'll be able to see doors or parts of walls until an enemy comes out. The background will appear glitched. The characters aren't glitched either. Watch your step because you may step over a ledge.

                              Boss Music is never played
                              MCNT-ADCE
NOTE: Stage music keeps on playing even when the stage boss appears.

Music is played differently from stage to stage
                              MCNT-ADCG
NOTE: Mission 1's music remains the same all the way through (no boss music). Mission 2's music is the boss theme. In mission 3, the music remains the same until to climb up in front of the enemy base. When you reach that point, the boss music will play well before the green Abobo comes out.
