  • Yipee! (I hope I didn't say that out loud because that would be embarrassing!) Another set to be tagged. Space Invaders tagged according to game occurrence I left my name next to yours only because I tagged it. The other 3 sets are still pending tags because time and I'll have to play through the games and on the account that there may be Japanese text that will require either incomplete tags or inadequate tags.

    • Wait! Could you see if that's the same music as the Space Invaders game for the SNES? I sense a match on some parts... Title Screen included, plus more jingles. Therefore, the composers are Katsuhisa Ishikawa (Babi in MobyGames and ROM text, not listed in GMCL, I think?) and Kennosuke Suemura (MobyGames, GMCL, and ROM text).

I could also use a music modifier for the SNES version for Space Invaders in this case...

      • Small Question. How Do I rip .SPCs from G-SPC? I ask this becasue this thing plays allsong from a single freaking song. How is that possible? I don't really care that much.

        • 1 SPC can contain all the songs in a game, even if you need to rip one for each song. Space Invaders (SGB) is 1 silent SPC with Space Invaders data, copied 26 times, with 1 to 2 bytes of difference between the files. It's possible that you could study SPC files and understand the changes needed for simple song selection(in simple-song style games) without much SNES knowledge. I've increased my knowledge of SPC files greatly because of what it took to rip Gameboy transferred sounds the most effective way.

          • Space Invaders SNES:
            Pick Intro Music:
            80CF0B0?

            Play SFX at Intro:
            80CF0B??
            80CF0EE1

            • The secret song does exist in the SNES version of Space Invaders as well. Just use G-SPC and select 2143(W) and set it to 3 and press play.

              • I suspect the secret song is the Staff Roll accessed by some secret code or some other way... which hasn't been revealed yet. There is a staff roll: You can find it in the ROM text.

The unknown fanfare is actually the victory jingle in Versus Mode in the SNES version.

                • I did check the rom for the staff roll in hexworkshop. The SGB version has no VS mode which means that Tiato was lazy and just ported he SNES version onto the GB cart and changed a few things. It may be possible to find button codes in a hex editor for certain games.

                  • Show Credits
Start or reset the game, and wait until one of the Demo games starts to play.

Once it's in progress, press the following button sequence:
Left, Right, Left, Right, Left, Right, Down, Up, Up, Down.

Then, press Start to end the demo. The credits will be shown, then you'll go back to the title screen as though the demo was all that played.

(And no, nenson. You don't get partial credit for telling me that using a hex editor can be helpful for cheat code searching.)

                    • Ok... I only asked if it were possible to do with some games because they might be in ASCII for some. The song is not their either.

                      • I've never seen a game interpret ASCII for a cheat code. Joypad-register-based button codes are always better(0002000100020001000200010004000800080004=Cr edits), but not always easy to find(unless there's a known code to start off with)

                        • I always wondered how those cheat books had as many button codes as they did in them. I have only found a few myself.

                          • No music in the staff... well, that means the tune could be unused. Thanks, anyways!

                            • Found an alternative music modifier for Eien no Filena which works anywhere... but same rules apply: 01 only works at the Title Screen...

                              Eien no Filena
                              7E0044??

                              Enjoy!

...beware of glitched versions when dumping SPCs. I just got that on 09... that bites. I also found out that it failed beyond 09 until a certain point in the game... sometimes it's better to let 'em happen naturally rather than unnaturally.

You're going to need some sort of bank modifier to get that thing working for all tracks, just like SimAnt.

For SimAnt, I actually didn't get the field theme that you usually get when you hit Full Game even when using your code... so once again, there's another thing. Is there some sort of bank modifier that would make this easier that you just simply modify the numerals to access different songs? I also feel like I could use one for Yume Maroboshi no Gotoku...

                              • Ugetab, I sent that Space Invaders cheat to gamefaqs. It will appear under my name unfortunately (as Gamefaqs doesn't allow to credit a source anymore). If you wish to send it yourself to get the credit, let me know and I'll remove my submission.
