  • Code needed: infinite time for "test your might" in Mortal Kombat 1 on the megadrive

I don't care if it's par, art money, game genie or fat freakin' fairy, I really would like one.

Last time I hacked this I think it had a bug, which is why i didn't bother posting it. So use at your own risk until I can test it more.

If I remember correctly, PAR codes can't solve this problem and give you 'true' infinite time. Yes, the number '9' will be displayed all the time, but after a while it will say 'Time over' or smth. I think I know why does it happen. Unfortunately, my codes and some disassembled stuff are located on another PC now.

Codes and stuff are on the way.

Now I see why I didn't post the code before. The code worked last night but it won't work today.

Ok, the trick to get a working ROM cheat is to actually address the RAM in a diiferent way than the game does - this way you can save two bytes so you can poke 09 to the location directly. This technique can be used with other megadrive games which I'd imagine can make more GG codes a lot more straightforward and possible...

          Infinite Bonus Time

          9VTT-DCSL
          BFTT-CAHN
          93TT-CZSR
          JBTT-C4H0
          RFTT-C612

Note, only the first 3 codes are needed the 2 codes are just to stop the display counting down to 0.

          Enjoy

I guess that's why the Infinite Fatality time code has never been made for MK1 Genesis. All these complicated things going on in the cartridge. I think Ugetab had a hard time making one for Mortal Kombat 2 for MAME. It was about the same situation I think. He had to tackle the root address rather then making a code to handle the RAM part. The infinite bonus time code has been added to the site Pugsy.

There are at least 2 versions of Mortal Kombat for Sega Genesis. I made these codes using the ROM named 'Mortal Kombat (W) (REV00) [!].bin'. They don't work with 'Mortal Kombat (UE) (REV01) [c][!].bin' ROM of this game.

                  1) P2JT-AETA + E2JT-AAAC
                  Infinite HP for player 1.

                  2) P2JT-AETJ + E2JT-AAAL
                  Infinite HP for player 2.

                  3) AB8T-AA20
                  Auto blocking for both players.

                  4) AVTT-CA5T
It gives you infinite time for 'Test Your Might', and timer's value always displays '9'. However, if you disable this code, it will show actual time, and if it equals '0', the time is over.

                  5) DBSA-CA9A
                  'Counter of might' fills automatically.

P.S. Sorry for the delay Hiro.
