That would be most excellent. I will stay tuned.

So the creator of the project is sending me a CommLinkUSB board (unbuilt) since it's only a prototype ATM. So we'll be able to use that, because the main board of the project is a board he created, and AFAIK is not for release yet.

If the files on there are the same his board is based off of then I can do the same. But let us know what it looks like and how it works.

Yeah, it's the same I'm sure, and it's open-source too, so go ahead and make a few if you'd like, I'm sure some other people could also use them too. Also notice that he added pictures of the custom board by itself onto the GitHub under Hardware

What I plan to do is build one alot smaller than that big board and integrate the atmega chip into the board. I already ordered all parts needed (will take at least 2 weeks to arrive) and I'll begin working on the board later this week. Can you get his contact info and PM me with it? I'd like to talk to him about possible design changes.

Wooh it took a good half of the day but I got the schematic and board setup, I'm going to get in contact with the original developer to make sure the schematic looks good then I can get some test boards made. Will keep you guys updated.

Big update after a few weeks:
I just received the board in the mail, now all I need to do is get the parts.
Helder, could you PM me links to where you got all the parts? That would be great, also so I'm sure I don't buy something that's not needed.

Show me the picture of the board, it's likely unpopulated with nothing on it right?

Anyways I've been chatting with the creator about the project and he has his own redesign in the process and will have some tests done soon and his schematic is super simple where as mine had too many parts so a redesign on my end is needed. I have all parts on hand for my project but for you and that board you will need the following:

                  https://www.adafruit.com/products/296
                  http://www.ebay.com/itm/Parallel-LPT...item486adea526
                  http://www.taydaelectronics.com/capa...pkg-of-10.html
                  http://www.taydaelectronics.com/capa...pkg-of-39.html
                  http://www.taydaelectronics.com/conn...in-header.html <--cut down to size
                  http://www.ebay.com/itm/3pcs-74HC74N...item1e6f50f7a2
                  http://www.ebay.com/itm/2pcs-74HC573...item3cca696040
                  http://www.taydaelectronics.com/leds...3mm-green.html
                  http://www.taydaelectronics.com/resi...pkg-of-10.html

These are the cheapest parts price wise but that is what's needed for his board. It seems the Xploder/Xplorer and GS Pro can use a standard printer port and cable, it's the older GS devices that need this comms connection. He said he's working on both versions where nothing changes except the code flashed to the ATMega32u.

My board when complete and his new board will have the actual printer port so you can connect it directly to the GS port and then connect the USB to the PC. We will likely need someone to code some hacking software like the old GS2000 to work with this as his program only dumps and uploads firmware which is useful but I want to have cheat support. Anyone here that can make such a program?

Image of my board that arrived yesterday.
I will buy those parts soon, so that I can build this thing.

                        Rom chips?

I'm waiting to see how his new design works out before I finish my board. I have a few boards I'm planning to get fabricated so I'm waiting on that too.

Sorry, meant the IC chips, just didn't remember the term, so just put some words in hoping it would make sense
I also still need to wait for the printer port bracket/cable, but I'm close.

                            How's that look?

I'm waiting to plug it in, don't want to find out that I did something wrong that someone else noticed after I tried it

Well, I guess I should've gone with the Teensy 2.0, because I had no clue that unlike the Teensy, apparently I am unable to flash this thing over USB. Either that or I'm not looking hard enough.

Pretty sure you can flash things over the USB but you need to press that little button I think. Let me see some info on it for you.

I looked into it and found a program called FLIP by Atmel. This seems to be the programmer, however, I cannot get it working. It always errors out with being unable to find the USB device. I've tried it on both a VM Windows XP Home, and my host Windows 7 x64.
