Sega Saturn GameShark RE codes not working?

Ok Mod-Chip installed and working, I'll check out the links and see what I can figure out, if nothing then it's back here to ask more questions :P

Well I just tried updating it to 1.96 GS and that worked and then I tried AR 2.02 and now it wont start up, so I went back to 1.96. I can do the old ARs but nothing past 1.96 GS and I'm guessing 1.96 was probably just updated codes and probably won't help me much with the codes I wanna use

Yea I tried the codes, the thing is the 2 codes do work for changing characters. There's a few problems though 1st when you start the game and are inside the mansion talking to Wesker in the beginning you are the normal character and not the coded one. 2nd if you save the game it auto corrects the story mode back to normal (unless it's because I don't have AR 2.2?) Also I'm not 100% that I went past the beginning Wesker part to test the code the first time I tried, before I flashed my GS. But I think I did the first time but again I'm not 100% on that either. I also know I didn't test it past the Wesker part when I was trying other code alts before I flashed it as well so who knows for sure what the problem was at first now lol.

So maybe those 2 notes should be added to the code if it's not my version GS code hacking that I'm using and that in fact it is how it works, just so people can get a heads up. After I saved I went back to the first Zombie room and killed the Zombie and then came back our and Barry shows up and shoots the Zombie lol and then the story was back to Jill from there on

Those both freeze on start up, it says they were ported from the PSX version and not sure but also maybe a Japanese version, so either I need AR 2.2 or it's a different country or I'm not sure? They do say they are for Saturn though.

Ok cool thanks! Question though, is it supposed to switch the story back to normal when I save or is it because I'm using an old device? I suppose though if I try Rebecca or Barry (since I'd rather play as one of them) that problem probably wouldn't happen so if I get them to work I suppose then the story doesn't really matter anyway :P

Does Barry/Rebecca change back to Chris/Jill?

Never mind I guess for Barry & Rebecca that doesn't happen because it's set for each story. But for switching Chris and Jills stories it switches the stories back to normal once you save, which I mentioned in one of the posts.

Anyway I tested out the Barry code for Chris and I also used the code that gives you all weapons in inventory and the game wouldn't start up, so I'm not sure if it was because I had the weapon code or not as to why it didn't start, I haven't fully tested it yet. Then I tested it on Jill and it worked and it was funny to see 2 Barrys after we went through the first door lol. Problem is though once I went to the door with the first zombie the game froze on the door

Any ideas on the Barry problem? I'm not sure what else to do. I'll try Rebecca when I get a chance but I really wanted to try out Barry some more :P

Maybe if I play through that first part as Jill and then save, maybe there wont be as many problems after that?

Well I tried em all except for Rebecca on Chris's story and all with no other codes. Still no luck and even when I load a save it just loads the normal character and not the coded one. My only last resort is to get a AR but I don't want to get one if that doesn't change the outcome, so can anyone say weather or not I should go that route or not?

are you still using play as codes?

Yea I had a Jill save and tested the Barry code with it and it was still Jill

jill will change to barry
