  • IGmassdumper help!

For some reason, the IGmassdumper won't dump! Any help?
I'm using it for Ratchet: Deadlocked.

Can any of you recommend me a good method (that works) to dump PS2 game memory?

I tried Artemis, but I'm having problems with it.

    Thanks.

Have you tried finding the save dump or live dump codes for the game? There's a guide on it at the CMP main site.

No, but I am confused on that guide.

So if I understand it correctly, this is what I'm going to do:

      1. I get the live dump code for the game I want to dump
      2. I put the dumpSource.c onto my memory card
      3. I activate the code through a cheat device
      4. I start the game with that code ON
      5. I do something like changing skin color
      6. I dump the game by pressing the jokered button

      Correct?

If you can do a save dump, go for that, it's a far easier process. From what I remember, you can save at any point in the Ratchet & Clank games by just pausing and going into options or something, so save duping would be perfect. All there was to the guide was finding a pattern in PS2Dis, and changing 2 lines.

No, I don't want to do a save dump. I want to do a live dump for Ratchet: Deadlocked, so that I can dump things and stuff from local play, like movement speed, jump height, rapid fire weapons etc..

If you are going for that, you have the process correct. However, you may be able to find a code with the emulator to allow you to trick the game into letting you save during local play, even though I don't think I've heard of such a thing yet. Just make sure you have a lot of patience because in between every save unless you have a 2nd PS2 lying around with uLaunchElf and that other stuff, you will need to turn the game off to transfer the data from your memory card to a pen drive, and then restart the game again, delete the data dumped, make a fresh copy of that special CMP save file, and do another dump.

Alright! I'll be trying that tomorrow then.

But for the live dump, it would only dump what I'm currently doing, right?

Correct, it dumps what there is the moment you do it. You just need to make sure you have the space on your memory card and the code set to dump the correct area so you don't get more than there is space on the mmeory card.

Awesome! I am so going to try live dumping for this game.

I have a 16mb one, would that work?

I am first going to test it with the skin color thing for local play, so that I can dump that information, and it will tell me in the dump file what skin I'm using and the skin color etc..

Ok so I tried to find the jumper address (the thing needed in order to get the live dump code) for this game by following that guide at the main site of CMP.
I typed in the address of the 9 type mastercode of this game, replaced 9 with a 0 and searched. It took me to a place with only NOPs. How am I then supposed to get the live dump code of this game? And is it actually the dumpSource.c that I will put on my memory card, or is it those .cbs (CodeBreaker Savefile) files? I don't have CodeBreaker, but I have Swap Magic 3.8 (with a built-in cheat device that supports all AR formats, except ARMAX) and Action Replay Max.

I bet you are making the same mistake I did by opening the wrong file to find it. That means you have to open that NTGUI.ELF or whatever file and go to the address, instead of the SLUS_123.45 file.

I can't remember. Whatever it was, it was a very tiny file size, so you could just put both on the memory card.

There is the PS2SaveBuilder tool that converts saves from one cheat device format to another if you need it. I don't remember where to find it, but it's probably on this site or CMP.

I tried to do a dump with Dynasty Warriors 5, but it didn't work. This is what I did:

                      1. I placed the dumpSource.c on my memory card
                      2. I opened PS2Dis, opened the elf file of this game and invoked analyzer
                      3. I typed in address 90122850 (m code), replaced the 9 with a 0 and hitted "ENTER". It took me to 90122850 0c0489bc which is a jal
                      4. I looked below it and found a jr ra with the address 0012285c 03e00008 (jumper address or the dump address)
                      5. I took that address, used the joker address of this game (that I already knew was working), jokered it with a R3 button, so it all became like this:

                      Dump
                      D031BF58 0000FFFB (R3)
                      2012285C 08028000 <--- dump address
                      D031BF58 0010FFFB (R3)
                      2012285C 03E00008 <--- dump address

                      6. After all that was done, I activated that code with a cheat device, launched the game, went to "CAMP", went to Zhao Yun's weapon info and pressed R3 to dump from there.
                      7. After that was done, I went to my memory card to see if it had dumped anything, but there was no Dump.bin file on it.

                      What am I doing wrong?

I can't remember what the file is called that you place on the memory card, but in the browser it has an icon image of a black cube with the letters "CMP" on it. If you don't see that in the ps2 browser's screen of the memory card, you don't have the correct file. I don't know why I didn't think of that until just now.

I'll check. But if there's no black cube there with the letters "CMP" on it, then it must one of the .cbs files, right? If it is, would it work if I converted them to .max files? Oh, and can you tell me if this live dump code for Dynasty Warriors 5 is correct? I just want to make sure so that I don't need to worry about that one.

EDIT: I just checked. There was no black cube with the letters of "CMP" on it, but I saw that I had 3 "Corrupted Data" (well, I actually had 1 previously, but I got 2 new ones) when I went to "Browser" and selected my memory card.

                          Help!

EDIT: Nevermind, I got them deleted, except the 1 that I already had previously which can't be deleted. So it's not the dumpSource.c, then it must be one of the .cbs files.

You might need to extract the file from the cbs file.

I tried with the .cbs files, they all appears as "Corrupted Data".
