  • terpsfan101 Codes (Mostly Genesis)

The thread title is probably misleading. I didn't create any of the ROM (Game Genie/patch) codes in this thread. I simply ported other people's codes to different versions of the same game, mostly hacks. I ported all these ROM codes with a hex editor. So there was a lot of trial and error. I also found that some codes couldn't be ported at all, even when I found the correct offset(s)!

I have a lot of Sonic codes to post, so I'll start with Non-Sonic games first.

Starting with Micro Machines. The official Galoob Game Genie codes only work on this version of the game: Micro Machines (USA, Europe) (Alt 1). The database has them under Micro Machines (USA, Europe), which is the version that Tony Hedstrom codes are for. VisitntX's codes are for this version of the game: Micro Machines (C), found in GoodGen. So here are Tony's and VisitntX's codes ported to the (Alt 1) version of the game:

Micro Machines (USA, Europe) (Alt 1)

xxxx-xxxx All of the Galoob Game Genie codes should be moved to this version.
SAXA-AEWL Freeze CPU Counter (Head-To-Head Race)
    ST6T-BCGY Always Finish 1st (Challenge) (1 of 3)
    AA6T-AAG0 Always Finish 1st (Challenge) (2 of 3)
    066T-ACG2 Always Finish 1st (Challenge) (3 of 3)
RZBT-A6YC Don't Fall When Driving Off the Edge
    A3GA-AA8T Drive Thru Obstacles (1 of 3)
    BVGA-AA98 Drive Thru Obstacles (2 of 3)
    A3GA-AA70 Drive Thru Obstacles (3 of 3)
    FTSA-AA3A Much Higher Top Speed

For SSF2, I found the correct offsets for the debug code from the USA version, but it didn't work on the Japan version. I only have 1 code for the Japanese version:

Super Street Fighter II - The New Challengers (Japan)

CCTT-AAAR Allows up to 7 turbo stars on Start Game screen

Here's a PAR code I actually found myself that enables Turbo Champion mode in the USA and Japanese versions of SF2 Champion Edition. It probably works in the European version too:

Street Fighter II' - Special Champion Edition (USA)
Street Fighter II' Plus - Champion Edition (Asia)

    FFFE4E:00FF Enable Turbo Champion Mode

I also couldn't get Hacc's codes to work that are supposed to disable throws in both the Street Fighter II Champion Edition and Super Street Fighter II:

    FF82CA:0000 P1 Throws Disabled (1 of 3)
    FF82CB:0000 P1 Throws Disabled (2 of 3)
    FF82CC:0000 P1 Throws Disabled (3 of 3)

    FF804A:0000 P2 Throws Disabled (1 of 3)
    FF804B:0000 P2 Throws Disabled (2 of 3)
    FF804C:0000 P2 Throws Disabled (3 of 3)

I've always found it strange that nobody has done any PAR/GG codes for the 32x version of NBA Jam TE. I ported most of the Official Galoob codes from the Genesis version. It would be nice if someone would come up with a PAR/GG code to unlock the Extended/Expanded rosters for both the Genesis and 32x version of the game (without having to enter JAM as your initials). I was unable to get Hybrid's code to unlock Extended rosters for the Genesis version to work. His code was ADBC-TCAG.

Sticking with 32x, I ported Tony Hedstrom's Game Genie codes for Doom (Japan, USA) to the 24 Level Expansion Hack by Saxman:

Doom (Europe) [Hack by Saxman v1.0] [Fix by Nuxius v1.1] (24 Level Expansion)

    BHKA-GAF2 Armor Never Gets Damaged
    AXFT-HC7Y Armor Pick-Ups Worth 4, Instead of 2
    BDFT-HC7Y Armor Pick-Ups Worth 8, Instead of 2
    AXFT-HC66 Blue Health Pick-Ups Worth 4, Instead of 2
    BDFT-HC66 Blue Health Pick-Ups Worth 8, Instead of 2
    AD4T-HC8N Infinite Pistol Ammo
    AD5A-HC9C Infinite Shotgun Ammo
    AD3T-HC82 Infinite Rocket Launcher Ammo
    DAHA-AADY Access Secret Levels

I tested the Sega CD codes in the database for Sonic CD and Final Fight on genplus-gx for the Nintendo Wii. Here are the codes I was able to get work. Notice I had to modify quite a few:

    Sonic CD (USA):

    FF151F:0001 Invincibility
FFD032:00FF Infinite Invincibility/Speed Shoes after Pickup
    FF151E:0001 Infinite Shields
    FF1508:0009 Infinite Lives
    FF1512:03E7 Infinite Rings
    FF1516:0000 Infinite Time
    FF150B:001E Infinite Time Underwater
    FF0F20:007F Have all 7 Time Stones/Good Futures
    FF1589:0001 Enable Debug Mode

I know Infinite Invincibility after Pickup works. I'm not sure about the Speed Shoes. Also, using RAM addresses from other Sonic games, I figured out the PAR code for Infinite Time/Air Underwater. Oddly, if you set the value for Infinite Lives higher than 3, Sonic can't make it up the first ramp of the first stage (This must of been a bug related to something else. I retested the infinite lives code with 9 lives and made it up the first ramp just as easily as I did with the code turned off)

    Final Fight CD (USA):

    FFB223:0079 P1 Invincibility
    FFB1DB:0070 P1 Infinite Health
    FFB242:000A P1 Infinite Lives
    FFB2E3:0079 P2 Invincibility
    FFB29B:0070 P2 Infinite Health
    FFB302:000A P2 Infinite Lives
    FF8EA0:0009 Infinite Continues
    FF9515:009A Infinite Time

I'll close out my post for today (I still have a lot more codes to post) by sharing my Cheat code collections for Kega/Gens and SNES9X/ZSNES. I used Mighty Mo's cheat packs as a basis for my collection. You can find Mighty Mo's site here:

    http://www.mightymo.net/

Keep in mind that code descriptions are limited to 18 characters in SNES9X and ZSNES. Only about a 1/3 of the games in the SNES9X cheat pack have fixed descriptions. And I don't need to tell you how limiting 18 characters is. I had to get rather creative with some of the code descriptions to get them to fit.

Here are the links to the cheat packs I've compiled and heavily updated:

    http://www.mediafire.com/download/4c...S9X_Cheats.zip

    More codes to come!

    Awesome codes! welcome to GameHacking!

I forgot to mention that there is a limit to the number of cheat codes that SNES9X, Kega Fusion, and genplus-gx can handle. Both SNES9X and genplus-gx will crash if you load too many codes, and Kega will only load the first 150 or so. With the Kega Fusion/Gens codes, you can remove the codes you don't want with a text editor. You can do the same for SNES9X, but it is much easier if you use this tool, ZSNES CHT File Editor:

Just a quick note on the Doom 32x codes... If I remember correctly, the codes should work fine on Kega Fusion ver 3.63 or newer, but the codes probably won't work on Gens. I think the only way to get the codes to work with Gens is if you hack the codes into the ROM, along with the 32x master code. This doesn't apply to the "Access Secret Levels" code, since it modifies 68000 (Genesis) assembly instructions, but the rest of the Doom 32x codes modify SH2 (32x) assembly instructions.

Why don't PAR codes work for 32x Doom?

It's a long answer, but in short it's because the 32x can use RAM addresses (PAR codes) that are out of range of normal Genesis PAR codes.

Found this one, thanks to Tony's other ammo codes:

                Doom (Japan, USA)

                AD4A-HC4E Infinite Cell Ammo

Doom (Europe) [Hack by Saxman v1.0] [Fix by Nuxius v1.1] (24 Level Expansion)

I'm currently working on a cheat code pack for FCEUX (NES), using Mighty Mo's existing cheat pack.

Regarding, Final Fantasy III. I guess that these codes for the Japanese version wouldn't be useful in the American version, since I didn't see any capacity points or a jobs list in the menus of the American version:

                  601B:FF:Infinite Capcity Points
                  6021:FF:Have All Classes (1 of 2)
                  6022:FF:Have All Classes (2 of 2)

And about the Infinite money codes, the codes work in both versions, but they show different amounts. It would be helpful if someone could help me figure out the right values to use for both versions of the game:

                  601C:FF:Infinite Money (1 of 3)
                  601C:FF:Infinite Money (2 of 3)
                  601C:FF:Infinite Money (3 of 3)
                  601E:97:Infinite Money (alt)

My question above couldn't be any stupider. I had always thought the American version of Final Fantasy for the NES was based off of Final Fantasy III from Japan. Boy, was I wrong.

                      00F5:FF:No Random Battles

This code was created for FF1, but it appears to work on FF2 and FF3.

Here's a few SNES Game Genie codes I ported from other versions of the same game:

ED60-632D Super Mario World - Debug - Yoshi Select (Press Select on Map to cycle through different Yoshi's)

I can't seem to get Ugetab's "Max Level" codes to work in Super Mario All-Stars or Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World:

                              I haven't checked the codes out or anything, but the Game Genie encrypted versions are titled and noted like this, if it's any help;
Title: Delete A Slot, Then Play And Save It, To Get The Maximum Level
Note: The slot has to be played, or it won't work right.

Also here's where the codes originated from and the note posted there:
                              http://gamehacking.org/vb/threads/40...=3547#post3547
Note: To save the settings for an individual slot to SRAM, open that Save, then immediately Save and Quit the game.
