        • Nolberto, I did what you told me to do to utilize the MAME cheat codes. It seems to work fine. But I don't understand this one thing.... the cheat.zip file size is now only 6,254 kb. It used to 25,630 kb. So how is it possible for the file size to shrink that much after rezipping the file after adding the contra "hit anywhere" code? Normally the rezipped file wouldn't decrease in size after adding stuff to it. Normally it would increase in size.

(I used the "7-zip" program to unzip and zip the cheat.zip file)

The only thing I can think of is that 7zip has better compression. Did you unzip the whole archive and then rezipped all the files again?

Yes. I unzipped every single file. I opened up contra.xml. with notepad. I added the cheat code. I saved it. And then I zipped every file again to a compressed zip file. And I didn't change any of the zipping settings such as to make it compress to the max. All I did was highlight all the .xml documents and right-clicked and chose "add to cheat.zip file".

7zip used its own compression algorithms. You don't need to unzip every file. When 7zip is open select the file you want to edit and press the F4 key which will open it in Notepad. When you are done save it and close Notepad. 7zip will show a prompt if you want to update the file just click okay and you are good to go.

                  • Since you started making MAME cheats.... I thought you might like to know of an arcade game that is popular but yet has no cheats for the newest version of the game. The game is called "Splatterhouse". Pugsy's cheat.zip only has cheats for the "old" version of the game. There is no cheats for the parent/new version of Splatterhouse, which is odd. So if you wanted to make some basic cheats for that game. I'm not requesting it, so it doesn't matter to me, I already beat it. I just thought maybe you would want to know that info.

                            • BTW, to gamers not familiar with real GG hardware, you can plug several GGs together, to have 3 codes possible for each GG in the chain. Just be careful to support them and the game cart with something under them, or U could end up with a broken console or damaged GG/game cart. I have plugged four GGs together; I don't think there's anything but physical limitations to hooking any number of them together.
