Don't update your 2DS if you want to use spider and also if you can backup your nand so it can always be brought back to the exploitable firmware.

Um...unfortunately, I've already updated my 2DS, so it appears that Spider is out, for the time being (until an exploit is inevitably found for 9.8.0-25).

Had the absolute best stroke of luck EVER! Found a used 3DS (Cosmo Black...one of the original colors, and quite rare, by the way), with 1.0.0-0U firmware. Subsequently updated it to 4.1.0-0U firmware using an old Angry Birds cart. Now...just have to wait another 2 weeks (read: FOREVER) until I get paid again, then order a Gateway flashcart, and may the HACKING COMMENCE!

BWA HA HA! *insert evil-grin emoticon here*

I still have to wait until my next paycheck before I can even ORDER a Gateway cart, and it's going to be another week or so before it arrives. After that, I have to figure out how to set it up, then learn how to use Spider, Rxtool, Savedatafiler, and all those other homebrew apps. Please be patient; Rome wasn't built in a day.

I actually just got everything set-up to hack codes, but I need to know how to dump my game, and what code types the 3DS uses.

You and Helder can still use ninjhax2.0 though.

              Here: http://smealum.github.io/ninjhax2/

If you are on anything from 9.0-9.9 you can install ninjhax. You might also be able to downgrade your web browser by installing Devmenu and BigBlueMenu and installing a specific .cia file.

Actually, I've come across perhaps the luckiest 3DS find ever--one with 1.0.0-0U firmware (as in, NEVER updated...AT ALL). I've since updated it to 4.1.0-0U using an old Angry Birds cart I happened to find at my local Gamestop.

What exactly is Ninjhax 2.0 capable of? Can it make it possible for me to use that Pokemon Rumble World save tool (the one which enables you to max out your diamonds and coins, and edit the traits, moves and even species of your Pokemon, as well as make them permanently mega-evolved, if applicable)?

A lot of things. Running homebrew emulators, region free gaming, you can also use it to restore the web browser exploit.
I just use Gateway though, I have homebrew installed as a back-up in case I lose my Gateway.

Not to derail this thread but I do have a brand new Cubic Ninja cart specifically for homebrew and other exploits, send me a PM with what you did to get your web browser exploitable again so I can try it.

Maybe buying a Cubic Ninja cart off eBay or Amazon.com would save me money over purchasing a Gateway (provided I can figure out how to use the browser exploit). Besides I think I saw a Cubic Ninja cart for around 15 dollars on Amazon.com, but I may be mistaken. I'll have to take a look. I may even order one if I can afford it.

Before you do that. I was actually wrong about being to downgrade your browser using ninjhax. Nintendo patched the Gateway website, so you can't get to the website.

I would just wait a while longer to see what pops up.

UPDATE: I have rxTools CFW installed on my 3DS (take THAT, Cubic Ninja! BWA HA HA!), and am currently in the process of setting up emunand. How, exactly, do I go about setting up emunand using the DS profile exploit (that's the way I installed rxmode CFW)?

First, I performed a nand dump. Second, I decrypted the nand partition on my SD card. Does this decrypted nand copy serve as my emunand?

I have a couple of places on gbatemp.net bookmarked, because they purportedly show how to install devmenu_v2...WITHOUT needing the Gateway flashcart!

The method involves sending the devmenu .cia file* over a wireless connection directly to my 3DS' home menu, via a special batch file which apparently piggybacks my 3DS' wireless connection.

*I've also downloaded the .3ds-to-.cia converter (I have the devmenu_v2.3ds file on my laptop), and have a tutorial page from gbatemp.net on how to set it up. I also found another site (which shall remain unnamed, due to containing 3DS roms--links to such sites are prohibited on Gamehacking.org) which MAY have the already-compiled .cia file I need.

Here's hoping this Rube-Goldbergian endeavor of mine pays off!

There seems to be a problem with trying to get the wireless-transfer method to work: I keep getting a "ctrclient: failed to connect" error, EVERY time I try to use the run.bat file. I've tried several variations of the run.bat, installcia.bat and custom cmd.txt files. However, nothing I do seems to work. This may hinge on the fact that I can't access the internet browser on my 3DS. I keep getting an "update nag" message telling me the browser will become available after performing a system update. Is there a way to bypass this annoying message (in short, forcing the browser to start)? I can't find anything on either Bing or Google (we all know they're in cahoots as "hide engines").

Also, I've come full circle (360) with this post! LOL

UPDATE: It appears that I overlooked a piece of info regarding 9.9 emunand: you cannot launch said emunand if you do NOT have a Gateway flashcart. Therefore, I'm going to order one this Friday when I get paid (thank goodness for direct deposit! w00t!). Good-bye, frustration, hello, 3DS HACKING!

                                BWA HA HA!
