I miss the old site myself, but I can get used to the current layout. About the only thing I really miss to the point of making a suggestion is the dark-all-over theme. I know you can set the colors of the header and background, but I do wish you could also change the color of the center of the page. White's just too tacky and hard on the eyes IMO.

I did have it set that way when I was first designing the new site. It just got too complicated trying to make sure the text was visible regardless of the background color chosen, and making everything look good with the varying shades. I will consider making an alternative style for a light-on-dark theme in the near future, though.

      Thanks for the suggestion.

the ability to add multiple codes for the same game is sorely missed. and the magling of code types is frustrating when you are looking for a particular code type. i don't play on emulators so cheat files have no real use to me. even my sega master system games i play on hardware and i deal with the hardware limitations. i use emulators to make codes thats all. but thats just my opinion on the two sites
        Yo Hybrid.

You can add multiple codes in one shot, there's a plus button on the form. If you mean something else, please clarify.

I've already considered ways to only show a certain type, I just haven't done it yet. The way we add codes now is not just for cheat files sake, but also so codes can be converted to other formats automatically. The old site was just text, and you had to add codes separately for each format, which can get really annoying for systems with a ton of devices like GBA and PS2. The new site converts each code to whatever format you want. This does make adding them more complicated, and it certainly makes developing for the site MUCH more complicated (which I burdened myself with). But our site is the only one that can do it.

Also, all codes for a particular game are on one page. No more searching separate databases or multiple pages. And, games are listed along with their hashes so all of the confusion about which codes go with which dump is essentially gone as well.

With all of that said, I do need to come up with some kind of cheat filter, and it shouldn't be hard. That way, the cheat shown is for the type selected, and others are hidden. Actually, the more I think about it, the more I think it shouldn't be too hard to integrate. The only problem with that is, if codes are being added in a way that the system doesn't recognize them, then they won't show up when you select a type. Most of them should be OK though.

The big thing I still have to do is rig a modifier system into the site. And, I have to do it in a way that more people will think it's great rather than "too complicated". The thing is, modifiers are already listed in the notes of codes that possess them. It will be great to be able to select a modifier and see the correct code for it. And some emulators use modifiers in their cheat files, so you can choose modifiers while you're playing.

        Anyway, I'm rambling.

So do I. But it's convenient when you need them and don't want to copy-paste everything.

I think what Hybrid meant was we used a program developed by Ugetab (R.I.P) where it would link to the DB and load the game list and the current codes. We could then add codes by pasting plain text but we would choose the code format and it would organize the code in what ever particular formatting was required and posted to the site on your behalf. This was for Admins and Chroniclers because you also choose the hacker along with the code format, using this I could post codes for a few games with little effort or hassle. I suggest a page that does something similar or an external application for this.

Yeah, I know, I guess I'm just not understanding how it was easier having never used it. I could make an external program, but I'm not sure it would be worth the effort yet. I think the website is pretty easy to use. Convince me it will be easier and I'll put in the time.

Ok let me give you a run down. Say I have 10 code posts by a hacker and there are roughly 10 -15 codes per game each post has 1 game so 10 games with a total of around 150 codes. Using the current system I would have to choose the hacker for every code since it only repeats the chosen hacker for the 2nd code when I hit the + (might be a bug?) then I have to choose the code type and section (doesn't repeat section on the next code with +, bug?). I input the code name actual code and any notes, rinse repeat for the next 150 codes which takes time. On the old external app I chose the system then game and hit add codes, choose a hacker from a drop down list and also the code type then paste all codes with this format:
CODE NAME (Notes go in parentheses after name)
                1234-5678

and all codes for that game are added in a few seconds as apposed to doing each and every code one by one. There is nothing wrong with the current system for a few codes or adding a few codes for multiple hackers but adding a large amount is time consuming.

precisely, i have codes for dune 2000 which i have yet to add. (too numerous to try with this system ) those DBZ GT codes which shouldn't be a problem.

Hmm, ok... when I get some time again to work on the site I will try to streamline the code adding a little better. And yeah, those are bugs... I'm not that wonderful at writing javascript because I hate it.

What would be a real pain is finding every PS2 AR Max game ID, most games have them but not every single one. So basically every game ID that the AR Max codes are pasted from into Omni/MaxConvert show up as 0000 unless it's the master code.

                          Off-topic:
Datel got lazy in about 2007 with the PS2.
Not only that but most PAL versions of game have better codes than their NTSC-U versions

Make sure in your site settings that the game view is set to table. I never added it in grouped view since it would get crowded. I may tweak the views soon, maybe a nice mix of the two.

I should also add the serials (game ids) to the game page.

Sorry lee4, I must have missed this post. Those are all good suggestions, and I will definitely work on those when I tweak the game listing later.

Also, can you try to pinpoint exactly what the PS2 converter is doing wrong, or at least give me examples of codes that aren't converting properly?
