  • Monthly Hacking Challenge #1: (3/04/2012 - 4/04/2012)

These challenges are here for anyone that would like to participate. Each cheat produced is worth a set amount of points (listed to the right of the cheat), and may or may not have a stipulation next to it (codes without stipulations can be done in either RAM or ROM). You may notice the game list does not contain region listings, so these are open to all regions of the game (extra points will not be given for porting, and the region of the game you hack must be listed when you post).

The hackers with the most points (cumulative) will be listed on the GameHacking.org Leader board (thanks rimsky!), and will be updated each month (Top 10). The administrators may give other "perks" to topping this list, or being the winner for each month (only time will tell). You have one month... Start your engines!

I was wondering how Zelda for the SNES would have been if the enemies attacked other enemies too, but had much more health. All out brawling, just run like hell, except for the bosses.

Didn't know there was a final fight for the NES either. It's kind of odd to have no enemies in a NES game, but I remember accidentally finding that on the PS3 for Rainbow Six Vegas 2. Never bothered posting it because without enemies what's the point?

Heh. I'll join in if I can pull myself away from Terraria and Minecraft

Abystus, you might want to add "Detonate Bombs by Pressing (enter button here)" for Zelda: LTTP. I did this for Goonies II using only four codes (hasn't been posted yet) by loading the button state instead of the timer, and then manipulating the value using a ROL command and changing the branch. Not sure if any single button presses are free in LTTP, though.

Look forward to seeing your codes. I've added your request to the list (I left it at just "Button Press" to allow for creativity.)

The "Enemies Attack Each Other" code idea is great and I don't think I've seen a code like that before. I always found those "All Attacks Hurt X Player" codes to be helpful and entertaining depending on the game. The method to hack that type of code is probably a good starting point to find the enemy one. As for what you said about that Rainbow Six code, you could try and make the game load more enemies than usual to spice up the game play.

@ Abystus: Jesus Mode was hacked for Super Mario 64 DS already.

Ah, I was not aware (didn't see it on this site). It has been removed from the challenge list for that game.

That game has nothing to do with the popular "Final Fight" games. It's a totally different game that just happens to have a similiar title.

Very nice hack! The N64 version would kill you when you entered a wall (referred to here), but I guess they fixed it with this version of the game.
