Yes, seen that, and 'heard' well ALOT of talk going all around (rumors and all else you know) about Final fantasy 7 remakes, and all else for a good while now.
Being FF7 is the game that pretty much started the whole 'superbness' of RPGs on PSX system, I can see it being remade someday, maybe not all that far off even, my only true 'worry' about the thing is and would be 'what system' and again also, what 'cheat device' codes are made, I mean if all goes as Lazy plans, he will have pretty much PS3 codes 'covered', so no worries, there, but all these fan boys of 'Bill Gates' begging Mr. Gates to have FF7 'remake' on XBox2 or whatever it will be called and all else, a machine that looks good, yes, but a machine with no cheating ability or devices---give me a break please. (much reason why XBox in my own home a GREAT machine, yes but is at the bottom of the 'fun' meter thanks to well no codes. (we you all would know, and agree, I hope and believe heh)
Anyway, for sure, like Resident Evil is and was, I do know one day we will see FF7 remake. Just the questions of what machine it goes on, if only 'one' or them all or what, for sure, it will sale ALOT of whatever machine t goes on, as Resident Evil remake did for gameCube. (The ONLY reason I have truely or even care for GameCube is simple, Resident Evil...yeah some other ncie games and things, GBA player and mess, but if not for RE, I'd left all of the GameCube mess at the store.
Anyway on topic here again, soryr for going 'slightly' off, I do believe, and so much I believe this, heck, I KNOW we will see FF7 remake someday, maybe even soon (within two years or so?) Just again, my hopes and 'worries' is the codes and devices used with whatever it shall be on. Much again like 'codes' for RE 'remake' vs the original and Director's Cut of RE, some codes, we not seen 'made' yet.... like that knife rocket launcher weapon mod type code, and such other codes. and as many codes are for FF7, heck will be a big thing to remake all thsoe codes again on a whole new remade game and whole new system.
Otherwise again, I know it is comming, I saw and heard alot of 'big news' based on FF series for the next gen systems and such (mostly around PS3 ofcorse, heck even heard of talks on a TRUE FF Collection) I mean made for PS3. yet have 'all FF' titles on the collection. FF1 (remade from the GBA one not too many updates, all about money we know) to FF7 'remade' and title up to FF12 last I heard.
So, with hope that does come to be, but again my worries is well heh you all know me, it is on the codes, and hopeing and wishing that all codes shall be 'ported' as we call it. :P to have all things possible and 'more' that we had on the original titles.

I think the reason the RE and MGS games got remakes for gamecube was because Until that point the system had no ability to play those games. The problem with remaking FF7 and RE or MGS on PS2 or 3 is that people may not want to buy it cause they can just pop in the original game due to it's backwards compatibility. I've heard that is one reason it would not be remade for PS2 anyhow. But I would still love to have a FF7 remake, even if it was on another system. Well, I wouldnt buy a X-box for it but i could buy a nintendo system for it.

Yes, I see and understand those points, as is the whole game to the 'game makers' is always bottom line money. Which is understandible, just the ways of the world, sometimes, the money game proves good for us fans, like the Resident Evil remake on GameCube (waaaaaaaaaay better then it was on the PSX)
But still... Resident Evil is not even on GameCube what it was meant to be 'originaly', I mean well, you know the thing, our brains thinks up far greater things then we can really ever make and do. Not putting us 'people' down, just our nature as human beings, we think far bigger then we always get, in games, in life, in well everything pretty much. (Kinda like that car you always wanted and you finally get it then suddenly, it is not so great as you once thought it would be, like a roller coaster ride, or such, so greta it looks and you think from the ground, get on and yes is fun, but you think, well was alot more exciting 'before' in the 'thinking about it stage'. Again human nature we all do it, is after all what keeps us going, and on the human side of today's world, what in fact keeps us spending money for entertainment, because the entertainment we bought yesterday is not as exciting as it was before we got it.
(I am that way over games, game systems, and hell, movies, and 'p0rn' alot even heh) yes that game or p0rn I bought yesterday will enjoy for a good long time, and watch and play again, but as is 'life' makes us always want the next thing out there. :P )
Now as for Resident Evil, the it is and was meant to be a two player game, even way back on the PSX. We never quite saw that til these 'outbreak' file games. RE2 was also meant to be a two players, one was yes, one was menat to be Claire, the other 'Eliza' at the time. on the orginal one to be Jill, the other Chris. But never quite had the hardware to obtain the dreams of the RE creator.
Again same thing as I said human nature to always look for the best from ourselfs, and others. Not great, not good, the ultimate best. I know I do that alot in art, drawing, painting and such, I always after done, find faults with it myself, it is not exactly as good in my eyes as I saw it in my brain. Yes is good, people say it is great and wodnerful, I have won many many awards for my art (not bragging but I am not poor in it in no way) but in my own eyes, not 'exactly' what I pictured, you know so, that is with us all.
Otherwise as for remakes, I do feel very much that FF7 will be remade, on PS3 all feelings and hopes point to that, and FF7 IS a big money maker for Square, look at FF7 characters in their other games to sale them. FF Tactics had a Cloud. Kingdom Hearts had a whole host of FF characters, that Ergregz game (cannot spell the name, ehh but you know it) that fighter game had FF7 charatcers, and hell that game SUCKS, YET I bought it, and everyone bought it for the FF characters. So Square does know they have a money train with FF series, but know their money train of FF7 is and shall be there for a long time. So a remake of FF7 updated grapics and added material and such shall be made someday, I firmly believe. (added material as in well no telling what they would 'add' as Capcom added for that Resident Evil Remake, added those defence weapons, and whole new game almost. Square would add Vincent and Yuffie FINALLY in cut scenes and movies. (THAT did always dissapoint me, I must say, no Yuffie in movie files, or the cut scenes due to the game has really no record weather you got her and Vincent....)
But yes someday they will remake FF7, I do firmly believe, as is alot of other remakes out there. Not just resident Evil, look at well.... Metroid Zero Mission, F-Zero GP Legend (IS in fact a remake of the very first SNES F-Zero) Yes 'Nintendo trademarks there' but still, others do it alot too, look at all remakes, and otehrwise 'collection' type games. Even Silent Hill, look at Silent Hill 2, not 'really' a remake, but they did add 'extras' to the XBox version and the greatest hits PS2 version.
I just see and think and believe and I know I like it alot 'remakes' are doing very very well. They remake movies today, remake games, make game collections. I just see it really as good, yes a big money pot for the companies out there, but is the way of life, and with the way of life, heck, I think every idea under the sun has been used over and over and over again alot, so many they are running out of new ideas for games and movies and all else, so well, why not remake something and get more money? All great because as I said and feel, gosh remakes, most times are great.
Call me crazy also, but I also count any and all fighting games with a number at the end of it and even some with no numbers a 'remake' Look at ALL the Street Fighter 2's in the early 90's we all were nuts over. All the fighter's now, Soul Calibur 3 comming out soon, all a remake of all the others before it, I see it as. SNK's King Of Fighter's series sense gosh even before it was called King Of Fighters when it was called 'Fatal Fury' in 1991.... all remakes of same basic idea and after awhile same characters each year just looking 'better' and getting a few new 'tricks'. :P (By the way, I LOVE SNK fighters alot, and know alot about them, and yep, Fatal Fury 'contest' was and is called/named 'the King Of Fighters Tornement' they just swicthed 'names' in 1994 when they did that whole 'team' thing (You know introducing more playible characters and adding mroe stories, then just Terry, Andy and joe, and their dad and Geese.) Yes Fatal Fury 2 had more characters with more stories, but really, til the first King Of Fighter's it was a basic 'Terry Bogard Game' (same way Ryu is all abotu Capcom's fighters'---err well mostly, the SF types anyway)
Even Mortal Kombat#Ds they ahve now, I call remakes...why 'classic' characters, all characters, and such. so really to me most any figter game is always a remake, yes better, yes worht buying (at times) but indeed always in basic terms indeed a remake always.)
So in other words remakes are great, more remade movies, more remade games please, it brings back those old days, yet in a new ways and new excitment and all good stuff.

If they do remake FF7 let's hope they hold back on the voice acting. Or if they decide to use voice actors they need to find some compident ones. Square blew it with FFX's voice actors.
Yeah, I remember that RE2 was gonna be a whole differnt game. It had one differnt character, and the levels were different. I think there was actually a prieview disc out there that had scenes from it.
The RE1Directors cut was a poor "remake" of RE. I heard the only thing changed was rumble capabilities. Although they were supposed to include unused cutscenes but never bothered putting them in.

I agree, well somewhat on that, heh sorry, but in my opinion as is with EGM's (read alst months issue about 'games that were more hype then fun' not exact name, but well was those games that everyone said for months would end all end all before they came out and the day they came out, everyone was like this is udder 'crap'.) FFX was nto listed as one of them, but I think it rather was and should have been, FF9 was listed as a game that is poor and was more hype then it should have been.
In my own opinion, yeah got and like (some) and want codes for FFX, but it was and is 'poor' for different reasons other then the voice acting, I think. My reason is well... not enough 'cool' characters to be and play as on FFX, some, well most Okay, but enough of others to make my stomach turn really... OKAY ones: Auron, Yuna (err so-so, she looks TOO Asian which is stupid, I think) Lulu, Rikku, Kimarie, corny and other stupid looking charatcers, 'wakka' and tidus, stupid stupid, stupid wuss looking characters I must say, and sorry Yuna looks sometimes 'stupid as a door nail as well' (she had ALOT of idiot expressions on her face during the game) But those three faults really messed the whole game up for me as making it NOT be really 'all that' as it was promised. Plus I do agree on the voice acting, tidus does sound like a girl, or rather a wuss of a young boy, which is, games are meant to have 'hero's this young hero mess is old and over done, time for some real 'shall I say adult heros, you know like Resident Evil.
On FF9 hey EGM said that game was stupid, and sorry yes it is and was, yes I got it and play it, but as far as being as fun as other games, heck no, again it's problem, is and was 'corny charatcers' and character 'looks' The little body and big head troll look was okay for the old days, SNES but with something supposed to be earth shattering as FF9, that was just a really stupid part on Squares part. I know some here do not like FF8, but really as far as character looks as far as looking 'human' and real' and the whole juction and draw systems, I do believe and find that as a far more fun and more 'real' ways of the real world. Again my opinion, though I see, even a major game mag agrees with me, that FFX and even FF9 si not and was not the 'greatest' as it was claimed to be. (So much in fact I sorta lost interests in the FF series anyway really myself. FFX was just STUPID enough to ruin it for me, I got and enjoy well a small bit FFX-2, but really, I'd say square and the FF ship has for me anyway finally sailed off and sunk)
On the other issues of the RE Memakes and Director's Cut. I must say yep on the RE2 part... I have the demo where there is NO Claire at all, it is Eliza Walker, a circuss acrobat in her place, the demo came with REDC.
Also for the Director's Cut being all different, well really it is and was, I know Resident Evil games alot, I have everyone of them under the sun, I am a huge RE fan really. And DC of RE had abit more then you mentioned, things that back then would 'merit' people buying it all over again.
The things DC has over the original RE are:
Better control, yes the control was tweaked, and you can tell by playing
Extra Custumes for Jill and Chris (somethign that started out as the huge big 'RE thing' then, remember for awhile there in RE type games and other games, getting an extra custume was all the rage for awhile.)
Difficulty levels and choosing
'some' added extra scens, as is seen this talked about in game mags for awhile, in fact the whole issue that in the DC's version, the face of 'Kenneth' was shown up close, and people though and write in hey that is Mike Jordan (the famous Basketball player) Mike was 'dead' and there was a 'small' outrage by all those Mike lovers and game lovers for awhile there, because rumors of Capcom wnats Mike dead came about...gosh what memories heh
Otherwise, fixx of bugs and such that were in the original RE game, I rememebr like you could mess up the elevator in the games and they would never work and mess like that, bugs that were fixxed and such all around.
Also other then that, they even went and added MORE to the 'Greatest Hits REDC. (RE original never made Greatest Hits because well, DC was out and a better version)
Anyway at the end, of the Greatest Hits version you also now get a image of the character you played as, like with Jill, you get her, on her bed, combing her hair, as it displays your game stats: time saves and such. (Jill has long hair, as is, it IS the actress 'Inga' who played Jill in those real action movies on the game.) And YES Jill is and was menat to have long hair on the whole forst RE game, she magicaly cut it to a bob (as mine is, because, well 'truely' because this was way back then, and they did not have the time not want to use the whole game memory to have Jill's hair flowing around.) IF you notice the same thing with Tomb Raider's Lara Croft on her first Tomb Raider game. See how on PSX, PC and even Saturn, she has NO Pony tail as she is menat to, but a little bun, again because the whole programming in of her flowing hair in all staged and positions and such.
In Tomb Raider 2 and so on we see Lara gets her pny tail, yet with Jill, we see the short look stays (which is good, I say) Again Capcom said, ehh forget wasting memory on this game to make her hair run smooth in every scene and such, plus Jill was never in a pony tail thus would have been alot more then a simple pony tail like in the newer Tomb Raiders.
The story Capcom wanted you to 'buy' is Jill had her hair PUSHED up under her hat in the original RE, which is BS, sorry, but well, that is rather corny, I mys say and Capcom woke up for Jill's next time in RE3 and the Remake of RE and such. So some tidbits there heh.
Nothing all that special, but ehh I love to tell what I know and learned, yes see, I love RE series that much, and like to share so everyone says hey that Amy knows everything about RE.
Kind of a shame still, I wodner what RE story would be now if Eliza stayed and Claire never showed up, I mean Eliza IS an acrobat from a circus, soemthign I ahve done and do myself localy. (yeah dance, and ballet and gymnastics makes ti possible and makes me in demand to walk tight ropes and turn saltoes and all that in a circus when our local Shriners do that, it is volunter, and well, I do love it, so =in anycase) just sayigna s far as the game and Eliza, wonder if there would have been like say 'vaults' over zombies and such. You know more acrobatic good stuff, as if zombies were really attacking, I'd do that. :P
Plus sort of a shame RE til Outbreak files made it to two players as they were meant to be, I mean outbreak files are 'okay' but not playing as Jill and such, and all these 'no name' outvreak characters...ehhh I miss Jill and 'famous' RE characters alot.
Which again brings up yet a whole other question for US RE fans, if any of you are out there, err I HOPE some of us here are. In any case, rememebr Hunk was slayed on RE2 as the '4th Survivor' well, now makes me wodner... with all these outbreak file characters escaping, how many people 'characters' really did and do get out of Raccoon City? I mean count them so far, still MORE then 4.... Jill and Carlos (and Alice via the movie) (Barry if you choose him during the RE3 game) Leon, and Claire, and Sherry and Hunk (the 4th one o it said) Ada being she is on RE4 and said she got out, Wesker as he is also on all other RE titles as well. and now all these outbreak file people, and sooner or later some others. Oh and via the movie RE:A other then Alice (Milla) we have that little girl, and that black guy, forgot his anme as well.) So really all in all abit, well ALOT more the just 4 eh?

I think it's always great when game makers forget to remove unused stuff and people find it later. I dunno, it's cool to imagine what the game could of been like if this stuff had been implemented. I know Super Double Dragon was originally gonna have a few cutscenes, one of the game makers talked about it and some hackers found the text and pictures for them. Also the debug rooms of Castlevania SOTN and FFVII. And of course all the Beta stuff in Goldeneye and the RE's. People usually complain cause they want that stuff in there from the start but I think it makes a old game more interesting to find new things in it years later.

I am sorry, I understand how you feel LMZ. I really do, some systems I not get til was done and out a year or two, a Genesis at that, and for a while there, I did miss it and think it was/is the greatest thing.
But as is, we all are gammers, so I know you shall grab an PS2 someday soon, and really, not all is great about having a system as soon as it comes out. like me and my XBox...is okay, well hell ONE game is, but these days I alot of times stare at it and say to myself "I cannot believe Bill Gates got freaking $300.00 and some of my money for that stupid paper weight...." I mean Okay machine and all, but lack of ANY cheat devices at all, and well hell, now a days the things go cheap, I just see ALOT of wasted money on it when I only care about one XBox game. The XBox and game most times you can find all under $100.00 anyway, yes I am serious, the 'today systems' are finally going cheaply if you look around good. Plus with this year comming, for sure they all will drop in price again.
In other words I have seen that game I mean yes a wrestling game, you all not into that but still the make 'yourself' is nice and cool, you can find it for $9.95 if even that much, yes an XBox game, and an XBox refurbished...yeah means it had a bug but was 'fixxed' heck you can grab those for some $54.95 I have seen. PS2 as well, with FFX also being UNDER that $19.95 greatest hits price, more like $7.00...all in all, LMZ I do really feel for you, as well as all here who yet to jump on the next systems, I do understand. Also becuase with all of us ON the PS2, that would lead to more hacking and lernign of the PS2 hacking ways. But I do understand....
And know as with all things in life, gosh these systems will be and get less in proce very soon, this year even I would think all these systems hit the greatest hits prices for systems.
I also understand the pain of looking at an old piece of wasted plastic and saying to myself as I said, I cannot believe I wasted so much on this crap. Has always been the way of life, heck these game systems, DVD players, VCRs... hell an Atari 2600 system used to cost some $200.00 and it looks like shit, same with VCRs being some $500.00 back then and crap. As I get older and look at all this of 'life' I can understand why not every kid in the world had a VCR and Atari when it first came out. I see that so much now, hell, I myself think I shall hang up the game mess myself, as is, got RE series on GameCube and that is my favorite, so unless Nintendo or the 'others' come out with somehtign earth shattering for the 'next system' ehh hell, I will say looks nice, btu a waste of money and wait a few years and grab one when it is cheap. I think and shall admit I believe I am 'out' as far as the new game systems and such comming. I make money and such yes, but I am working on my house, so with such a BIG thing, hell with a waste of plastic paper weight, as is, it will always be there at the store----err well at least for the next 5 to 6 years (adverage game system life) and will be cheap as dirt as well.

I'm not worried about it, as there's millions of ps2s out there. Hell, I could go out and buy an original playstation right now if I felt like it. It wouldn't be new, but I don't want a new one. And I know if I don't get a ps2 by the time there's a ps3, there will be a ton more of the things out there to buy.
