Hitachi recently put up a page with the painful sounds that alert you of hard drive failure. It was miserable for me to listen to them and i cringed at quite a few of them. I thought i would share this information and as soon as i find a WAV of the "Click of Death" i will post that too.

Heh... I've had two ipod hard drives that went through all of those kinds of noises randomly. Conviently the upper head had broken off and was scraping the whole platter.
