I mean cutting smoking scenes from decade old cartoons? I take it someone has nothing better to do but to complain about it heh....

I've heard of some activists wanting to get rid of Speedy Gonzales because of the stereotypes of how it portrays mexican mice. I loved those cartoons, so hopefully that don't happen.

This is only the start of a lot of censorship... Once people notice it can be gotten away with on something like classic cartoons, it'll only be a matter of time before it spreads around (like it's been for rather awhile).

It's not a good thing to start, either...it sets bad precedents. These censorships could easily lead, 100 years from now, to 1984-esque occurrences.

Censorship has gotten worse, I'm Catholic and now it's wrong for us to say merry Christmas, what's next? Jews aren't allow to have bar mitzvas? It's getting so bad these days, I wouldn't be surpirsed if they attacked Who Framed Roger Rabbit over Jessica Rabbit being too revealing.
Yet the cartoons like Family Guy, The Simpsons are insulting nearly everyone and everything and guess what? That's right censorship doesn't exist for these cartoons. Even the cartoons like yu-gi-oh are censored beyond belief before we get to see them.
Let me just point out that Pokémon was edited in America so not to include guns, that's right the showing of guns(not firing them) is being censored and yet the news shows the army in Iraq with guns! Odd isn't it?

Maybe tv execs will decide that cats need to be censored cause they make people think of pussy, so everytime they show a cat they block the image with a dog instead.

Can you think that in ten years the word bitch is going to be abolished, the word "lass" is going to be classed as racist.

Racist? You mean sexist, or just generally vulgar?

Swearing actually seems to be more acceptable lately. "Shit" was said on South Park a bunch of times, and "damn", "hell", "ass", and "bitch" are pretty much commonplace on networks like Fox. We still can't seem to get over religion, so we bleep the "God" in "God-damn", but leave the damn. I find that really funny.

Well lass is usually used in scotland, it means girl, but I just realised that the next thing to go is slang!
That's right, give it about 50-200 years and we will have one language, not by choice, but it'll be forced upon us.

Maybe. The problem seems to be one of general misunderstanding of a common goal. Would we rather be without creativity, but progress very quickly in technology and such, or be awash in creativity, with relatively no progress because we're all lying around naked with each other? Since neither apply, we float in the middle occasionally swaying to one side or the other.

Can I get back to you? I'm about to watch a small movie of Kintaro from the Mortal Kombat game.
