In the year 2065, I have a series of rough predictions I can cautiously make. The word "cautiously" comes into play, because sometimes, the very act of predicting some future event changes the future in and of itself, due to time's quantum nature.
The only prophecies which I KNOW will come true are found throughout the Bible's New Testament.
The predictions I am about to make about technology in the year 2065, are not meant to be ironclad prophecies, as I am not a prophet. I am simply trying to stimulate discussion on what we, as a species, may be able to achieve in the next 50 years, given how scientific and technological progress has been accelerating at an ACCELERATING rate (try to wrap your head around THAT one! LOL).
In the year 2065, you may be able to access the Internet, free of charge, from ANYWHERE in the world, from your now-portable PC.
A push for PC portability has already (sort of) begun. Tablets are sometimes referred to as "tablet PCs" now, as they often have the equivalent power of PCs of about three years ago.
In 2065, the average tablet PC on the market for about 250 dollars (give or take) will be able to outperform some of today's fastest supercomputers (such as China's Tianhe-2).
The concept of "all-in-one" will be taken to the extreme--keyboards and mice will have gone the way of the dodo.
There won't be any "console wars" in 2065. In fact, there won't be any dedicated video-game consoles to speak of, except for those which are still in use by very dedicated video-game memorabilia collectors.
All video games will be created specifically for the now prevalent portable PC. Even Nintendo will produce general-purpose portable PCs, as well as games for it.
Multiple operating systems will be a thing of the past, as a universal OS will have been developed, officially ending the "silent competition" between Windows, Linux, and Mac OS. This universal OS will NOT be a Microsoft product, but a collaborative effort between Microsoft, Apple and the creators of Linux.
Go ahead and tell me what your predictions are (or call BS on mine
).
