  • Need help with an snes kirby superstar hack i am working on.

k so the hack i am trying to make involves kirby superstar and one of the powers charge up. i found multiple adresses associated with the charging and one of them is a slow countdown. the slow countdown represents the power and how long the charge will last. my problem is this in cheat engine i have no problem freezing the value and i can spamm the full charged power all day long. but when i find the same address in the snes9x search i add it to the list with the appropriate value and it goes from an adress for example this isnt the actual adress but the in snes9x the in game address would be sXXXXX and when i turn it into a cheat it will change the address to 8XXXXX now i am pretty sure that it might be because the cheat program for snes 9x is not capable of writing to those adresses but what i dont understand is why can i search for that address if i cannot modify the values in any way. if anyone could help me out on figuring this out i would be very greatful because as of now it seems like me and any others who would like to use this cheat may have to do it with cheat engine. and yes i did try browsing the memory region with cheat engine. the address in cheat engine wich directly represents the address within the game is the only one that will freeze the ability at full charge. trust me i have tried probably over 1000 possible combinations of different addresses and values in that region along with other addresses that seemed like they were connected. i am thinking maybe i could find the address that determines what value the "timer" value has to hit before being fully charged but since that may be a static value i have no idea how to find it. any feedback at all will be greatly appreciated.

Kirby Super Star as well as Super Mario RPG and possibly a few more games store the addresses in SRAM hence the "s" in the beginning of the code and I believe Ugetab made codes for this game and used a 4 in place of the "s" and it worked in the emulators but I believe there is no way to make GG codes out of them since the GG doesn't even touch that region.
