  • How to modify certain codes that related to Time codes?

    Hi...
I'm in a bind here. In Silent Hill 3 (NTSC/U) PS2, there is a code that gives you "Always Low Play Time", in which is a very good thing. However, I need to make it as 1:33:33 and 33:33 instead of 0:00. Regardless countless times I've tried to change the values of the code, it somehow don't change at all. Either it would still be 0:00 or -14:18. I realized that the larger values I changed into it, the time decreases into negative value. I'm don't get it at all.

Here is the code for it.
    2BDFF49C 24040000

Can someone guide and enlighten me how to modify codes that related to Time codes?
For raw codes, I kinda get used to it how to change them but when comes to Time codes, this is a first.
Please help & thanks a bunch for your time.

That code doesn't modify the play-time directly, it's changing the game's programming so it either adds zero to it every interval (seconds I assume), or just outright loads zero at some point when the game is operating on the value. Doing what you want would require hacking a new code, or at least more work than simply altering the value of that one.

Oh darn!!! I thought it would be simple enough to modify it. And I'm not sure if anyone would try to hack that code for me... since it's a very old game. Btw, do you have any idea? thanks.

Why on Earth do you not try these things yourself? It's a PS2 game. You are looking for a timer, all you need to do is use pcsx2 to get into gameplay and scan a few times for things that increased, and you'll find it. If not, there's still livedebug and ps2rd. What's stopping you? Try it.

These are from codetwink. Why do you have the value 2402???? for their code? They are float values I'm guessing. Try the value 42C80000 and see what happens. http://www.h-schmidt.net/FloatConverter/

Pyriel explained it in his post that the code is more than likely an ASM code therefore those values represent an instruction (try that value out in ps2dis and see).

Bungholio: the code I posted is originally from the CodeBreaker V.10. I also not sure why it has 24040000. I did suspect it was a float code and tried to change it, but nothing changed. Also, that code, is the same in some other website as well. So, I'm kinda surprised how come you can get a different code from the original CB v.10 database. Oh yea, btw, the codes you got from the Codetwink, it worked with float 45AF6800. So, the question is, how you able to access the codetwink site? You login via Facebook acc or use your original acc? & thanks for the help.

Helder: Thanks. That's make a lot of sense now.

PS: What exactly happen to the codetwink site anyway? It won't allow ppl to register and all sections of the site are inaccessible.
I've even tried to login with my old acc but not to avail. Aside login via FB, is there other way? or something happened? O.o

I think the only maintenance plan CMX has for that site now is to assist entropy from time to time.

Lee4: Thanks for the link but I still can't access the site. It just won't let me in. Unless you're login, there's no way to access it.
Pyriel: If that's the case, I hope it would be just for a time being. =X

                            Thanks Olala. It worked.
However, the code for the Always Low Clear Time in Codetwink is different from the one posted by bungholio in #6.
How is that possible? O.o I'm getting confused here.

It's different because I used omniconvert to decrypt it.
