My opinion is it's sloppy hacking by who ever released the code,

Every time I've ever made a trainer for 360, SNES, PC, or any other console I tested re-tested and I integrated code-caves/hooks around certain functionality that would normally cause a crash.

So that when there was a conditionally or iffy moment where problems could be caused it re-routed the games code to my own inline assembly in order to stop it from happening rather then telling the end user "Oh your game's gonna crash so save, and reload at this point without the code enabled".

That's the kinda work you get from an open community though, lazy or inexperienced people determined to do nothing but build a reputation for them selves.

There's info on it on my blog, You've gotta have a modified 360 first hand ( Glitched or Jtagged, That or a legitimate devkit ).
