  • Decrypting Dreamcast AR codes that use an (M) code

I was looking through the BSFree2 database and noticed that Action Replay codes for several dreamcast games were encrypted differently than others. I tried decrypting them with DCCrypt to no avail. I noticed that any game that had a code like this also had an (M) enable code. I would suspect that an encryption seed is hidden in there.

If you have no idea what I'm talking about, here's an example (using Crazy Taxi PAL):
Normal Encrypted Code (can be decrypted with DCCrypt):
    Infinite Game Time
    AC035027 0000173E

Further Encrypted Code (cannot be decrypted with DCCrypt):
    (M) Must Be On
    EC8DB760 143C2DB4

    CPU Controlled Cars Don't Steer
    1C8542E8 1456E7A5

I couldn't find anything about these. Any ideas?

They don't decrypt for DC because they are PS2 codes. You can decrypt them in Omniconvert (AR1).

Please report any more of these database mistakes you find so a chronicler can fix them.

    Edit:
I suppose there is a chance that the codes are for dc, but were encrypted using the wrong method. But I still think it's the former rather than the latter since a PS2 codetype was used.
Please put all complaints in writing and submit them here.

You're right about them being PS2 codes. I saw the same codes on Crazy Taxi PAL's PS2 page. It looks like many games had their codes mixed up if a game of the same name exists on another console. 4x4 Evolution, Marvel Vs. Capcom, and Chu Chu Rocket were just a few I came a cross, but their's many more.
