  • Question about PS1 Joker Commands

I just started hacking some of my PS1 games looking for joker commands. I was mostly interested in finding it for Dune 2000. Is it possible to have more than one joker for a game?

I was using one of the guides to perform a joker hack. After trying this, I think I may have found 2 of them. I don't want to add them to the database until I'm sure though. Here's what I found:

I attached one joker to the Instant Ordos Units code & it seemed to work, plus I did the same thing for the other joker, except that I attached it to the Instant Ordos Structures. Both seemed to work.

    D01770B4 ????

    &

    D01770A8 ????

Is it possible that these are both jokers? I know that the addresses are similar.

I also attempted to create a "Build Anywhere" code similar to the one for Command & Conquer: Red Alert Retaliation. I have gotten close, but still no cigar. What I found allows structures to be built on the sand, but you can't place it just anywhere. When you place the structure, it actually appears to the far left or right of where you are building your base.

The code I came across was:
    80101E34 2101

The "21" of the value seems to be a coordinate. The "01" of the value seems to be an on or off trigger. In other words, if it were 00 you wouldn't be able to place a structure even if you have solid gray or solid yellow.

What I would need to know is the value of the solid red, solid gray, & solid yellow squares when building structures. If I knew this, finding the code would be easy. In C&C:RAR, the value for having the solid gray squares was 01FF. What complicates this is the fact that there are three different colors instead of just two.

      yes,

"Each pad", you can have 16 "Button Activators" codes

(Button Activator is correct term, Joker is the user name who found the pad read.)

I've endlessly wondered where that name came from. I just thought it was some nickname applied specifically for conditional codes that use the controller to activate things. As for BigBossMan, about the "21". Have you tried the 1 byte constant write code type just for the "01" part? It was changing the first digit "8" to either "3" or "5", I don't remember which anymore. Also, if you found a coordinate there, did you mess around with the few other addresses next by? Where there's 1 coordinate, the other few should be nearby.

I haven't done that yet, but I'm thinking that will be my next move. There was an address close to the one I posted that affected whether you could highlight multiple units or not. When it was activated, you could only select units individually & not as a group. That wasn't a useful code so I didn't post it. I haven't given up yet. I'll keep plugging away at it & see what I can come up with.

Of course, if anyone wants to beat me to it, I won't have a problem with that.

            30101E34 0001

should work as a constant write to that part of the address
