  • Rom Identifier/Verifier?

I was sure on where to post this but does anyone know of any program or site that can properly identify a rom's revision/region? I'd assume there is something out there that can perform a basic checksum/crc check.

I am asking in reference to many roms being mislabeled from random sites around the net leading to codes being reported as working for the wrong versions of a rom (many have no label at all so they are reported as 'U'). Just figured I'd ask before I attempted to write one .
Not taking any requests at this time.

You can scan roms with clrmamepro, and use no-intro's dats, but it would be cool to write a drag and drop program that will just tell you the name of a single rom. It would be simple to write, and I could do it if you wanted (but you'd need .NET Framework 4, as I currently only know C#).

I suppose Romcenter would be an alternative to clrmamepro.
Please put all complaints in writing and submit them here.

Above link not working? Try here.

Sounds like you have it all worked out. I usually write side projects all the time, however work has been making me hate programming as of late (I write custom 911/Sheriff Office Software for silient dispatch and jail records management.) VB .net,C#,C here and I have VS 2010 already installed for the framework won't be a problem at all. Let me know if you start a project as I would enjoy testing.

I guess you would have to check headerless type roms with some sort of comparison list (not sure if one of these exist you could use without building one or using whatever your using for the CRC checks on the new site.) Also gshi could host the source for future modifications as necessary. Thanks for the reply and keep us updated on the progress .

Now broadcasting from the underground command post. Deep in the bowels of a hidden bunker. Somewhere under the brick & steel of a nondescript building. We've once again made contact w/ our leader, OSG
