  • Hacking Sega CD games

Hey guys, I was just wondering whether anyone's had any experience hacking Sega CD games? Specifically, I've been trying to hack Dune (the strategy/RPG/adventure) but I'm not very experienced, so not having much luck!

Basically, I want to edit the amount of spice, and also add equipment like harvesters and weapons to your troops. I've tried editing the brm file using a hex editor, but once I reload the game and try to load the save file, it doesn't show up at all. I was just wondering if anyone had any advice please?

    Thanks!

use something like T-search or artmoney or cheatengine to hack the game while its playing on the emulator. Thats how I used to do it in the old days.

Thanks guys. I downloaded Fusion, I can't believe I didn't know about this before now! Anyway, I found a tutorial for hacking the save states of the PC version and it turns out that the Sega CD version is very similar - I was able to find the addresses for giving equipment to your troops. Still can't find the one to change for more spice/money which is pretty weird, I might have to give artmoney a go.

That's really cool, thanks DukeOdin! I've got Final Fight CD too, so that'll definitely be useful!

It took me a while, but I managed to find the right address (offset?) for changing the amount of spice. You had to divide the actual amount on screen by 10 and then convert it to hex, so that's why I couldn't find it.
