  • Got a question about the PAR 2 for Genesis / Mega Drive

I just ordered a PAR 2 for the Sega Mega Drive from Ebay France. After the Euros were converted to USD, I only paid about $35.00 for it. I believe I got a bargain considering that I've seen others going for upwards of $70.00 or more. The catch is that it doesn't come with any instructions. Does anyone have or know a website I can go to get a PDF copy of these instructions? I just hope the PAR 2 when I load it up, is not in French or I might have to write everything down word for word & translate it through Google Translate.

JLukas has one of these. If I find the manual online, I will post the link.

      Thanks.

I saw that video prior to buying the PAR2.

The PAR2 for $35 is a good deal. I haven't heard of a French text PAR2 cart. The PAR2 I purchased only included a French manual, and the screen text is English.

If someone finds one, let us know; GSHI should have that in its Library...

I was shocked when I saw it that cheap & that they shipped internationally. I pounced on it. Now I'm just waiting for it to get to me. I imagine that I should have it by the end of the week. I should be able to do some better hacks with that than with the Game Genie. As soon as I get it, I'll let everyone know. That's also good that its not in French. That could be why I got such a good deal on it. Maybe he didn't understand English or just didn't know how rare those devices are. In any case, I'm excited about it.

I just got the PAR2 yesterday. I spent last night trying to figure out how to use the trainer. If someone could help me figure this out, I'd greatly appraciate it.

                        This guide should help: http://www.gamefaqs.com/genesis/9163...sis/faqs/11633.

I think I have seen him here before, too.

BigBossman, I sent you a PM. Although the FAQ linked in the post above recommends putting the switch to middle for the initial bootup, for PAR2 you boot with the switch down and leave it there until finished with the trainer.

This might not be entirely relevant, but here's the SNES PAR manual. I suspect the general method of operation is quite similar.

I wanted to say thanks for your step-by-step guide of how to operate the PAR2. I found out the reason I got such a good deal on it is that my switch is a little bit loose. At times, it doesn't connect. So when I would press the reset button, it would just reset the game as if the PAR was not in there. I just have to keep the switch in the down position & lightly pull up on it so the switch will make contact. Then it works perfectly. I saw the FAQ the night before & while it was helpful some, I wasn't able to use the trainer like I wanted. Finding the numbered codes are easy. I am hoping to find some of the more complicated ones soon. Since I haven't been able to find any energy or character modifier codes yet, I do have a couple of questions:

                              1. What is the best category for a character modifier cheat? I've been alternating between "Slow but sure" & "Change of status". Since there are more than 2 characters in a game this one's kind of complicated.

                              2. When it asks about "the starting value" , Are they making reference to the very 1st value you were searching for or is this the last value that you used the trainer on?
