  • What hacking guides are still required?

For those of you who are just starting your hacking career (as well as experienced veterans that tire of explaining the same thing over and over again, heh), guides, FAQs, and documentation are of great benefit.

But there are still some subjects that could be expanded upon, and a scarce few that haven't been touched at all.

What would you like to see explained in detail in a guide? If I'm not a subject matter expert myself, I'm sure we have one around here somewhere. GSHI has always prided itself on being a place to learn; help us make the Library an even better resource than it already is.

Making codes for any supported system with MESS. I can do a guide, but I think Pugsy has much more experience than I.
I think explaining the process with a few systems will make the job.
MESS debugger its brilliant, and recently its possible to hack GBA games with it too.
I have some experience hacking GBA too ^^.

I know there were a few specific code types I always wanted to see more in depth info/examples for, but it's hard to remember what they were at this point. Multi-Jumps (mid-air jumping) and Rapid Fire hacks come to mind. I have a general theory on multi-jumps, but I've never actually hacked one. I always liked those in the retro games and wanted to do it on N64 stuff. It'd be just as much hell to backtrace on N64 as modifying jump height though. I basically had to glitch Nemu to get the controls to respond while the debugger window was on top most times, making it even more irritating. I know we covered a lot in EnHacklopedia, but then people lost interest. Parasyte talked of transferring it to a wiki at some point for people to have easier access to contribute. You guys could probably do the same here if you haven't already. I always liked the idea of trying to cover at least some aspects of hacking for every system. I might still be the only one that's hacked NeoGeo Pocket games. lol

Awesome; thanks for the input, and if you have the knowledge required (whether you've responded or are merely reading this), please write something up, even if it's just a skeleton of a guide. Perhaps we could do some collaborative work (two or more people writing a guide is always great).

                Learning 6502 Assembly
                Need more guides and examples.
So far a guide either didn't explain much on how to get the last value. Also it only showed an example for one code. I want to see a couple of games, or at least a few different types of codes.
Like infinite energy. Mega Jumping. Changing an item, etc.
I want to understand those ADC, SEC, STA,... etc.

PS. Can you help give me this code.

I learn more when I experience different situations.

I'll contribute in whatever ways I can,but I'm mainly doing NDS hacking and many games need to do ASM hacks.Even without ASM there are many guides that can still be made with the existing tools, perhaps we should host some tools for the NDS.

Definitely. I really haven't looked into NDS hacking. If a set of tools to be hosted is proposed, we'll host them (assuming there isn't a huge problem with legality or something).

Well I have a huge collection of NDS tools all legal, meaning no debugger which is a paid app.I can send you it after I get permission from the guy who collected all of this into one package.
