  • Renegade Help - GoldenEye Wii

I've been trying to get this code(PAL/Europe): 81025E82 0000 into the GoldenEye ROM, so that I can skip the intro - all this so I can play GE on the Wii.

It seems that the Trainer / Patcher option in Renegade would be the easiest way to do this but I can't get it to do anything.

I enter a game name in the bottom left and click 'Add', then I enter the code and a name and click 'Set As New', tick the code and then click 'Activate Codes'. This gives a write failed error message when attached to Project64, but gives no error using other Emus.

Finally choosing Endian as Auto(N64) or any of the other options and then patching to a rom does nothing, the file's last modified date doesn't change, the hard drive does nothing and upon loading the ROM I can't skip the intro.

Am I doing something wrong or is it this not the purpose of the Trainer / Patcher?

If anyone knows a better way to patch codes into ROMs plz do tell, I've seen patched ROMs on doperoms.com, but they have no tutorial out.

make sure ROM isnt set to read only in file properties, that might be the reason the changes raent saving.

          Read any

If only if was something like that, but no I can't see anything I've overlooked, hopefully newer versions might get released, but it seems unlikely for a program aimed at the N64.

I don't suppose any1 knows of any other N64 rom hacking programs?

Skip Intro on Goldeneye? You're kidding right? Anyway, you can't do it that way. you have to locate that same assembly in the ROM. You can't just go by the RAM address of a code if you're trying to patch the ROM file itself.

Only want to skip the intro, cos it crashes on the intro on the Wii.

I am aware of how difficult it is, but I know people have done it because there are many roms available with rapid fire/invinciblilty and the Trainer/Patcher option seems aimed at doing this.

I wrote Renegade, so I should know what it was aimed at. Thank you. I also did the Rapid Fire ROM hack, FYI. As I said, you can only patch an assembly hack to a ROM. All you have is a typical RAM hack. You'd have to break on read/write of that address, find the assembly that checks/sets it, figure out how to manipulate it for the needed effect, then find that same assembly in the ROM.

If it's really needed to get Goldeneye running on the Wii, someone somewhere has probably done it or will do it. I have no interest in any Nintendo system newer than N64, so don't ask.
