  • The Converting Genesis PAR to GG codes thread

I also posted this at gscentral to get some feedback from others on if any info needs to be tweaked. But this should work. This faq is for infinite type codes only.

    -----------------------------

This is something I wrote up to help people get started converting Infinite type Pro action replay codes into game genie codes. If I'm missing anything let me know.

Searching for Infinite Type codes (The Slow but sure way)

1 - Take a action replay code and delete the first 2 numbers (Say your code is FF2225 It will now become 2225.)

2 - Your code must end in a even number, if it ends in a odd number like the one above then you must subtract one from it to make it even numbered. (2225 becomes 2224). You can then use the code to find the rom address you will use to convert to a game genie code.

3 - Open up your Hex editor (Hex Workshop is HIGHLY recommended cause it will display all results). Now type in the 2224 you just came up with.

4 - After you get the results we will need to test them in a emulator. So what we need to do is subtract 4 from the result. If your result is 1116 then your result should become 1112. You will need to do this with each result you test.

5 - Now you must make sure your rom address is at least 6 digits long. So 1112 would become 001112.

6 - For the value you should put 6002. This will tell the computer to skip over any instructions to decrease its value. So your new code would be 001112:6002

7 - Test your result in the emulator. I am using the latest version of Kega Fusion for this. If the value of whatever you made the code for does not decrease then you got your code. If not you will need to try more results until you find the right match. When you find your match it will be ready to convert into a game genie code.

    That's interesting...has it worked consistently?

I'm a little inebriated, but this gives me an idea concerning something only mildly similar...

Actually, from what I heard from Tony Hedstrom it doesnt. I think I will hold off on making Genesis game genie code making until they come out with a emulator that has a debugger. Then finding the rom address for PAR codes will be much easier and less time consuming.

But at least when writing the faq I started understanding a little more about how to convert the things.

Edit: I mean a debugger with breakpoints.

Well, let me say this - when you do write that guide, we're all ears.
