  • Question regarding Cheat Engine & Joker Codes

    Hi,

I've been using Cheat Engine to do most of my PS2 hacking & it has worked very well. I've even figured out (or at least I think I have) how to find Joker Codes using it.

The way I did it is set it to a 2-byte address, set the values to HEX, & using the max reverse joker values, & simply type in the exact value for each button press until I have it narrowed down.

The problem I have is figuring out how to use a joker code on Cheat Engine. Since its designed for you to input or have once code per line, is it possible to use a joker with a code on Cheat Engine?

    Thanks for any info.

If you mean press a button to activate cheats there is way todo that with cheat engine I use to do it years ago with ps1 games. I'll need to remember how to do it and get back to you in a day or so.

This isn't exactly what you meant but it will have the same effect first you need to download a program called Xpadder Google it because you can only put keys from keyboard to activate codes but Xpadder allows you to put keyboard keys on your game pad. Once Xpadder is setup with what ever keys you want to use right click on what ever code you want to make Joker/ code has tobe at bottom so you can switch it on and off. Right click on code go to set a hotkey put in value you want and key to activate code. Good luck my friend. God Bless

Cheat Engine has several scripting options these days. You can do the work in assembler if you're injecting code. I think you can call many/any common Windows API functions, like GetAsyncKeyState, from the assembler. You also have Lua options with trainers and the like. As far as toggle-able hotkeys just from the CE Interface, I don't know of a way to do that, aside from assigning hot-keys for CE's search functions and the like.

The trainer is my favorite tool. Depending on the code, if the value involves a series of 00s & 01s, I"ll use the PCSX2's debugger to look for other potential codes. This has been most valuable when hacking WWE Smackdown games.

I highly suggest using pcsx2dis over pcsx2s offical debugger(can you even call it that?) or cheat engine. Do note it only works for pcsx2 v1.2.1.
