  • A question about using Cheat engine and Artmoney

First of the thread title is wrong, it should of being I'm having difficulties with using Cheat Engine and Art Money sorry guys for the thread title mistake lol

Anyway I was actually hoping that someone could give me some advice on how to use these two cheat engines more effectively free of the problematic difficulties I'm experiencing at the moment, being a game hacker myself that usually uses pec to hack my psx ram hacks, I'm finding it hard to get use to using Cheat Engine. and Art Money.

The first problem I'm having is when I'm hacking codes that normally require changed value searches, like flag codes. I can't seem to narrow down the searches to a small amount and usually end up crashing the game, due to freezing to many addresses at once while testing the codes, I have also tried using the unchanged value search as well to try and narrow down the addresses, but found It didn't help much?

The second problem I'm having is because I can't narrow down the huge amount of addresses I have found and have to frequently resort to freezing a large number of them at once in cheat engine making it impossible for me to be able to test the addresses at the right time in a game, making it very difficult for me to freeze the addresses that require precise timing to find in a game?

pec is for PS1, so your only dealing with 2 MB's of RAM. With the PS2 your dealing with 32 MB's of RAM.

If using cheat engine set the memory range from 20000000 to 22000000. Also when you load pcsx2 back up, the addresses never change so you can continue looking through it to find what you need.

Also I wouldn't recommend using artmoney, as cheat engine is far more fully featured including a debugger and doesn't ask you to pay for all of it's features like artmoney does.

So in your in your opinion do you think sticking to using pec would be better option because the thing I like about cheat engine is that you can freeze addresses on the fly unlike in when using pec where you can only freeze one at a time, also cheat engine has a fully working debugger which is pretty cool to use for asm hacking.

Actually I wouldn't use pec. As lee4 stated before it can sometimes give you the wrong offset. If I were you, for PS1 RAM hacking I would use pcsxr's built-in cheat searcher, which is identical to pec but gives correct offsets.

As for PS2, definitely Cheat Engine.

Cool man thanks for recommending that I should use pcscxr's a oppose to using the normal pec for windows, what exactly did you mean when you said the pec tends to sometimes gives you the wrong offsets, and does this have any effect on the address when trying to find codes for psx games?

how do I access the new pcscxr's cheat search on the emulator, because i have pec plugin installed on the emulator but the cheat interface looks incomparable to the pec hacking engine used on the previous released Espxe emulator models?

                stop depending on pec
its will just help you make inaccurate codes
lee4 Does Not Accept Codes Requests !
When lee4 asks a question it does not mean lee4 will look at your game

Does one know how to hack ram codes using the ram search interface on the PSXjin emulator, because i haven't got a clue on how to use the emulator's ram search feature properly, it's quite confusing to use, unlike pec which is straight forward to use?

it's like any other searching tool
you initialize an initial search then move forward from them
play a little bit, then do a new search etc

                      1 start a game
2 start ram search(it will display all RAM values)
3 select your option for data type and data size
4 return to game do something
5 select search for less, greater etc
                      6 press search button
                      ...
if you want to start over press Reset button

Okay I seem to get an error with the ram search, anytime I start a start search an error keeps showing up in the ram search menu, invalid or out of bound entered value?

step 2) start ram search it means you just click ram search from the emu menu to open the ram search window
then you return to the game do something then switch to ram search search window and press search after you set the search criteria
                          imagine it like this
in cheat engine or art money or any other memrory search engine when you search for an unknow value you do a first search
this first search is eliminated in psxjin, because when you open the first time or press reset in the ram search window, that first search is done automatically(displaying all contents of the ram)
i dont know ho to describe it in any other way

I tried that, yet I still seem to be confronted with the same issue, and I know you explained it as clearly as possible can, but I think i quite's apparent that it's quite probable that's there may be something wrong with my current version of the emulator i'm using?
