heh Neat Strider Codes (for the GameGenie and Genesis ofcorse I am thinking?)
Goodness this game brings back alot of memories of the older days.... playing this game at the arcade, beating it even...ahh the memories.
Anyway great codes for this game...heh now I only wished they would 're-make' this game...well not a re-make really' They just should have slapped it on that Capcom Collection for PS2, it is on the PSP version, and PSP is fine, but blahhhh batteries always die so darn fast....
The NES version was my first Strider experience. It was a pretty impressive game. I don't know if it was that faithful a port but it was still pretty cool and had spot on control.
heh, well yes there has been a 'few' Strider variations made out there really. I was very fond of the arcade game then, and it has been awhile, geez...this was way back when I still recall and have game magazines that are no longer in print and not been in print sense 1990 and such.
Odd enough, it 'may' sound strange, but without the net then in 1988 to 1989 when the NES was the thing and game mags were kind of trying to get started, they made alot of mistakes...too much PC gamming vs console gamming, which well an all PC game mag I must say is and I always found boring.
Anyway on this, I knew of the arcade game and was very fond of it, and saw the NES game at Sears of all places (The place to buy games then via they were expensisive toys for expensisve girl and boys heh and really no Babbages yet and no one sold games really of that high class NES type then Sears. (Babbages, Roses, and K-Mart and such started getting into their 'hay day' of video game sales around 1990 to 1991...heck even then for the most cases, Toys-R-Us did not even have video games.)
Anyway way back then, I remember we were at Sears to get my mom something for her birthday, she would be able to pick any few things she wants from Sears or any store, she choose Sears...so we were there, and it is my birthday as well, ofcorse I wanted to go to Toys-R-Us...I was figuring looking for dolls because I had the NES but it was still just starting out pretty much, and mario was still fun then. (Yes my mom's birthday and mine are same time pretty much) Anyway, we were all looking at the TV eletronics department, the upstairs parts of Sears...anywya I saw they had a 'small' class case of NES and Master System and even 'older' Atari 2600 games...so being NES was the new big thing, I just started looking and spyied a Strider for the NES. Well that was it, had to have 'it' for my birthday.
I got it home, and well, I was all thinking the same thing as the arcade we'd been playing and loving, and it was 'different' and I was all like well it is pretty cool, but hey!!!! hehe I was well, sorry to say but rather dissapointed, specialy with games being so much money back then, it was not cheap at all.
So I do admit, my first 'home' Strider, I was pissed and dissapointed, but the music is and was good, and 'a few' stages seemed kind of like the arcade, so just dealt with it til the Genesis hit and the 'true' game was the thing to get. I LOVE NES Strider today, and the music I must say even for crackly NES music is pretty darn good.... but still the original nothing can beat. (You just gotta LOVE that jungle stage in 'The Amazon' where you walk on backs of those Dino's.)
In fact, I do believe that is why Capcom made the Genesis Strider, ebcause of the extra power they had and well because back then, alot of people bought, but all did not exactly like the NES version. I mena well yes love it NOW as a classic, but back then I and I recall in the game mags alot of people were screaming 'fluke'.
Anyway Strider went on to be made a few more times, they ahd a Strider 2 for Genesis---this game SUCKS..sorry I ever picked that one up, even though it was cheap and sued, no wonder it was so cheap. Then they did 'right' and made a Strider 2 for the PSX, added alot more featehrs and redid Strider 2 right the PSX way.
I must say really so far the PSX version of Strider 2 (which has the whole extra game Strider on the PSX) is my favorite today.... such a shame, I still must say they did not slap it on a PS2 'collectiong' game disc.... yea all older games, but ehck those grapics do look alot smother on the collection discs then they do on arcade even. (The PSX version is 'close' to arcade looks and grapix quality, beyone Genesis and NES always ofcorse, but still the PS2 collection discs do look alot better and smoother today.
Anyway here we are all talking Strider variations, ummm now which version of the game are these codes for? I would assume Genesis, but now, heck we all may be lost hehe
Yeah these are Genesis codes, and since I recently purchased the Genny version off of Ebay, these could come in handy. I also have the Strider 1 and 2 duo pack that was released on PSX about 2000 (bought that off Ebay too.......for 35 bucks O_o). The PSX one is pretty much arcade perfect.
The Genesis Return of Strider (aka the old Strider 2 not made by Capcom) is total crap and can easily be skipped over.
The greatest space fighter ever made, the Vic Viper.
