  • NES FF7: Advent Children Patch...

Lugia 2009 & team have released, on Romhacking dot net a great new patch for NES Final fantasy 7:Advent Children (Chinese), a vorlage "pirate" game, which is a HUGE improvement over the original NES version. Now, while it restores many of the elements from the PS1 game, it's vastly inferior in many respects. Comparing it to the PS1 version is as comparing the Atari 2600 Pac-Man game with the arcade version.

However, while the original Chinese NES version sucks, when compared to many other NES RPGs, this patch makes it a worthy addition to the NES library, especially if one plays it w/o using any codes.. It adds Cait Sith and Cid to the playable chars, with "guest" appearances by Yuffie and Vincent.

You need a PRISTINE CHINESE ROM to patch Lugio's work onto. Since it's against rules to post ROM sites, lemme say just use Google to readily find one. The Lunar patching tool readily makes the patch.

While the codes made by myself, Hybrid, Nolberto, and others for the original game work with this patch, they seem to cause some glitches, such as in Bone Village, the staff won't dig for the Lunar Harp.

The reason I posted this here is that I wonder if anyone else has been making any codes for this game, or has encountered similar probs with the patch while using codes

Hmmmmm...well...I got the codes to work OK; the prob was I'd mis-entered one of them. The game plays through, with or without codes.

The FCEUX 2.2 emu might be the only one that'll play this game. I tried VirtuaNES, & Nestopia to no avail. They pop up a message that sez "Mapper 163 not supported".

Again, this version will NOT make anyone forget the PS1 version, but it aint bad at all for a downsizing. And BTW, the "Enhance Magic" code works perfectly, all chars & magics, with no hangups. Just go into a magic shoppe, select your char & his/her magic to be enhanced, & either repeatedly tap the "A" button or hold your turbo "A" button down. Use with the "Infinite Magic Uses" code.
