  • GameBoy Hacking Help

    Hello.
I've recently got into GameBoy hacking. I recently found codes for some GameBoy Color games, but I have a problem when trying to use original GameBoy codes. I use VisualBoyAdvance. It seems whenever I add a cheat, the emulator ignores if as if it were disabled. I go into the cheat list and make sure that it is enabled (there is an 'E' next to it) and I made sure 'Disable Cheats' was unchecked.
For example, I am trying to find out how to make the player have unlimited time in Othello World. I tried 0105CEC0 (01:C0CE) but the emulator ignores the code as if I never enabled the cheat. I go back into the cheat search and the number decreases. I think it has something to do with "01:' but I'm not sure.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Just in case, in VBA, if you make a save state, then add a cheat and then load the save state, the cheat will gone or replaced with what you had before. Basically, the save state restores everything back to how it was.

I forgot to mention that too, sorry. It's not a problem with the save states. If I could just find a way to set the opponent's timer to 0, then I could win instantly.

Some codes are fake, they look like they work, but they do nothing.

Hmm, this is the only code I could find though. Would you be willing to check? I would greatly appreciate it. I just need a way to make it so the opponent's time is 0 minutes and 00 seconds.

I don't know what you were looking for exactly, but in Othello World this code will control the seconds 01??CDF0.

I had to manually enable the time though, so I don't know if you're talking about a different game. Plus, the time is shared between players, so I can't make it so it only affects the computer.

Thanks a lot, Hybrid! That did the trick. I thought you'd get an ending after beating all 5 opponents but it takes me back to the title screen. Maybe I have to do it on the No Time Limit setting, but then that would mean I'd need a cheat for getting more pieces on the board than the computer.
@ReyVGM - That's the code I found too, but it doesn't work. I found the same thing for the computer but it ended up crashing the game.

The code worked for me fine. I know there are some versions of VBA that don't enable certain codes, I don't know why.
