  • NES Air Fortress Question...

I had a friend who was playing NES Air Fortress using Nolberto's "Hit Anywhere" codes. He said they worked fine EXCEPT if he fired inside a fortress while the Escape Ship was on the screen, that Ship was destroyed, essentially ending the game. I was able to do the same thing, but I couldn't find any way to use the "Hit Anywhere" codes without destroying the Ship if it's on screen. Any suggestions, anyone, besides DCing the codes before shooting in the screen with the Ship?

(I dunno why some of these dudes don't post here themselves; no one here bites, far as I know!)

Sounds like the Escape Ship is grouped right along with the enemies in the game's enemies-take-damage routine. If there's an invincibility code for the Escape Ship, you might try using it. Haven't played the game, so I might be totally off :\ Does the game normally allow you to damage the Escape Ship?

If the ship has a consistent address throughout the game it could be possible to make a code where the ship is invincible and therefore the "Hit Anywhere" code would not affect it.

      Or something along those lines.

Edit: ^He beat me to it.

With the "Invin" codes, the first ship/rider outside a fortress is not invincible; the second one sometimes loses invincibility outside a Fortress, but after that, it's untouchable.

I've not played the game a lot, but outside a Fortress, the ship and its rider, Hal Bailman, seemta be one unit, with one code for both. But here's a hint: Inside the Fortress, your Ship(before you occupy it) is not touched by your normal shots, nor harmed by a Bomb going off next to it.(Obviously, once you mount it to escape, there are no shots or bombs!) However, I haven't been able to find an Invin code for the Ship alone.
