    Enemies Heal You

    00CC0D:01

Note: When you have this code on, and the enemy hits you, you will receive 1 HP(or two if enemy can get two hits on you in a row in the same round), instead of it being subtracted. If you leave this code on and go to attack the enemy, you will heal the enemy instead. How to avoid this? Right before you go to attack just turn the code off and after the battle round is over(if the enemy isn't dead), switch the code back on immediately if it's the enemy's turn to attack. If you leave this code on, you can level and gold build since neither you nor the enemy can be damaged but the game seems to "think" you've killed the enemy. Also, if you have the code on and get the random dialog "So-and-so is exhausted", the ally of yours, will stay alive as long as you have the code on and can continue to fight in battle without ever needing to be revived. You can have level ten promoted characters in the very first battle of the game. This only works when enemies physically attack you.

If a hacker could make an "upgraded" version of this code(where your allies are immune to magic attacks at the same time as well as physical attacks I mentioned above), I'd gladly be appreciated and will give you full credit. Another thing, I personally recommend using this code on the Kega Fusion emulator because it is the only one I know of with a Fast Forward feature and am most familiar with this SEGA console-related emulator only but emulator choice is entirely up to you. If you wish for the link to the English translated copy/version of the game(and it is beautifully translated I might add), send me a Private Message to me on here and I'll PM you the link.

This Game Gear Shining Force game, is also called Shining Force 3. Also, I've not yet been able to test and see if this code works on the Japanese version. I will test this code on the Japanese one and post a "heads-up" reply which should be sometime today or tomorrow at the latest.

Save often during the game(in/during battle) via savestate(F5 to savestate if using Kega Fusion emulator), because if you are in a battle with this code on and are about to be magically hit by a Dark Smoke enemy, it most likely will reset the game on you. I've only noticed it do this with the Dark Smoke enemy only and nothing happens when physical attacking enemies go to hit you. I personally haven't seen this happen when the Dark Mages go to use their Blaze spell on me. Either the game doesn't reset when they go to use it on me or if I just been lucky with them as well. But all-in-all, the game can still be beat with this code. I'm currently in the middle of chapter 2 of this game and am still using this code, so that's how I can say with utmost confidence, that the game can be beaten with this code.

Nice to see that your still around, and still have an interest in the Game Gear.
I think it's the most underrated handheld, glad I had one instead of a Game Boy as a kid.

            Edit:
I added your code to the Japanese page:
            http://gamehacking.org/?game=18237

See if you can hack some more codes for it, since it's the only code for the whole game on the database.

Also, what is the name of the patched ROM?
If it's '(J) [T+Eng29Nov2005_SFC]' then I'll add it to that page also.

Try this code in Fusion if you would like B74761:BF
If it works correctly; the enemies attacks should heal you, but your attacks will be normal (not heal enemies).

Thanks Mezmorize. I'll try the code out you posted and get back to you to let you know how it goes. I to believe it to be the most underrated console as well. Much better than the Gameboy Color console. I look forward to the English version of Shining Force CD codes the other previous poster said he will hack. I private messaged you the link for the English Game Gear pre-patched version of Shining Force Gaiden Final Conflict(aka Shining Force 3) to you just now. Glad to see you are still around and hacking still as well. I find the codes by accident and luck. Math will never be my cup of tea. Hopefully you and other hackers can make it impossible for allies to be poisoned and maybe also, an enemy control cheat as well. I'm thinking of trying to find the English pre-patch for the Japanese Shining Force Game Gear game where there is this guy with a bushy mustache, but since I can't read Japanese, I have no idea of how to try and look it up online.

Damn Mez!! That code is awesome!! Both enemies physical and magic attacks heal me. Nice discovery!! I hope if enemies that have Demon Breath(if that enemy move/attack is in this one), heals me as well.

I've always preferred Sega over Nintendo not just because I grew up in the Sega era, but I found the consoles and games by Sega more fun and enjoyable. Nintendo isn't bad, but to me personally, Sega takes first place.

                        Cool glad it worked out.
If I'm not mistaken each enemy attack should fully heal you instead of just one or two HP.

Jpgilyard, please make sure, that the codes for the SEGA CD Shining Force CD, are for the USA(North America) region of the game since I can't read nor speak Japanese. Thanks. LOL!!

For whatever reason, only 3 bytes are different between the patched ROM you PM'd me and the (J) [T+Eng29Nov2005_SFC] release.
So nearly 100% of codes made for one patched version will work for the other.

                            Edit:
I think it was a fix to their previous translation or something, either it's just me or the 2005 translation does not boot in Fusion.
When I changed the first 2 of the 3 bytes, it did boot properly.

Interesting about the only 3 byte difference.
