  • FFVII on PCSXR

I'm learning how to hack codes for PSX games with PCSXR. I've noticed that the existing Gameshark codes for FFVII, codes for "No Random battles", 8007173C 0000 and 8011627C 0000 respectively, freeze the game at certain points on both EPSXR and EPSXE. I'm trying, unsuccessfully so far, to find new codes that won't freeze it.

If I remember correctly, those codes worked OK with a real Gameshark/PSX console.

    Any suggestions?

(Note:I've already tried modifying the addies of the present codes.)

All three disk isos. For example, one freeze point on disk 1 is when you attempt to rnter Bugenhagen's lab in Cosmo Canyon. In disk 2, one is when you climb outta the rail tunnel just before Scarlet & Heidegger appear in the Proud Clod. In disk 3, one is as your party gets together to decide who's going right and who's going left.

These are just examples. There are many other places where the game freezes whin using the 'no random battle' codes. But I don't believe the isos are bad cuz they work perfectly with most other codes, or without any codes.

Might need an ASM version which will be more stable.

Thanx, Helder. I tested an ISO I got from a site that features some icicles on its title page, which seem more-stable than those from the site, part of whose name is the opposite of hades. However, the 'no random battles' codes still freeze it.

So far, I've not been able to find any purely-ASM ISOs, but I've not had a whole lotta search time, either.

And, BTW, I'm just beginning to learn how to hack codes using PCSXR, so bear with me if I ask any seemingly-lame questions.

He means an ASM code, not ISO. :-)
