  • "R" rated password

    Found this password in a Genesis game called SeaQuest DSV. It's encrypted, so it won't show up in a standard text search with a hex editor...

    FVCKY0V-----

    Keep in mind that there is no letter "U" in the password screen, so they use "V" instead.

    It would have been great to see that password in a gaming magazine. lol.

    The "FVCK" can be found at ROM address $03B030. The numbers there represent the corresponding number in the password screen, where the first character is 00, the second is 01, the third is 02, etc.

    It changes RAM address FFDB38 from 00 to 22, although I don't know what it actually does yet.

    Two more passwords I found...

    4NDY--------

    T0MMY-------

    There is no "A", so they use "4" instead.

    Again, haven't figured out what these do either.

      I may have figured out what the FVCKYOV----- password does, but this is mostly speculation. I know that password changes RAM address FFDB38. There is only one place that I could find where that RAM address is being read, and it is checking to see if it is equal to 63. Assuming the developer's disabled the password, this Game Genie code makes the password give you 99 of everything in the game (99 of every item, and 99 of every ammo)...

      NR2A-GACY

      When you're entering the password, remember that the "0" is zero, and make sure you actually enter every single dash ("-"). When you enter the last dash, the cursor will automatically move to the "END" icon.

      EDIT: You don't need to enter all the dashes after a password (the dashes are already there by default).

        More new passwords for Sea Quest DSV (Genesis).

        I searched with Google and couldn't find a single password for the Genesis version of this game, so I'm pretty sure these are previously undocumented.

        There are a shit load of passwords in this ROM (I would say at least 30 to 40).

        Also, I made a mistake earlier when I said you have to actually enter every single dash at the end of a password. The dashes are already there by default, so you don't need to enter them.

        All of the passwords above take you to different individual mining missions. You'll have infinite lives and an infinite supply of all the different ships.

        The password below takes you the the credit screens (* = UCO/Sea Quest symbol)

          A couple more mining mission passwords for Sea Quest DSV...

          PLN
          TNKR

          And a couple "New game" passwords...

          LNY9W0DXW1HH = Start with 99 of everything, and $101,000.

          LNF5V22X490M = Start with 99 of everything, and $200,000.

          Unlike all the other passwords, these 2 passwords are not hard coded in the ROM.

          I submitted most of the passwords to GameFAQS.

          There are a few passwords that display messages from the programmer's to their son's. It must have been cool to be a little kid, and be able to show all your friends that your Dad put a custom message about you in a video game. Here's one of them...

          J8C0BWGVYM0N = HELLO MY SON JACOB. DAD LOVE'S YOU..YOUR THE BEST! SO IS PAL2! HAVE FUN!

          A few more that I haven't spent the time to figure out what they do, but will include them in case someone else wants to play around with them...

          JCSHBTPPLS89 = Password screen shakes violently for a few seconds.
          WVYSCRN = ???
          406-P4CK4RD = ???
          F0LL0W = ???
          H0LDINV = ???
          ST0PMMTMR = ???
          MMSVCCSS = ???

          There are still several more passwords that I haven't deciphered and tested, but I'm losing momentum so this will probably be it.

            Update: Figured out one of the passwords from above...

            MMSVCCSS = Mining missions are always successful, even if you die.

            Also, I'm guessing that this one stops the timer in mining missions that use a timer...

                  I honestly don't even remember posting that lol.
                  Plus, your taking the time to figure out what they do.
                  I usually just post it on the boards when it's not a game that interest me too much.

                  I likely was not looking for passwords at the time I seen them in the ROM.
                  Didn't check, but I believe I did the same for The Magic Schoolbus.
