  • Is there a way to edit a GC action replay file?

I have a Ps2 and i can transform my Code breaker file cheat file onto a .txt file, i was wondering if there was a similar way for GC Action Replay since there are some codes for FE9 that are simply too damn long (30+ lines) and i am not in the mood to type 30+ lines one character at the time.

Do you have a modded Wii? If so then you can decrypt ar codes(with GCNCrypt) & convert to WiiRD(with AR to WiiRD), you will need a patched MIOS v5 to use though, if not, I don't think it's possible yet.

Well, they're all free apps, if you prefer playing it from disc & don't want to have to input a lot of codes into the ar, you can use NeoGamma with a patched MIOS v5, also to manage codes there is a Gecko code manager called Ocarina, you select codes after you input what you want, then export it to a .gct file, create a folder on your SD & name it NeoGamma, then inside that create a sub-folder called codes, I'm not going to give a full tutorial on all of it, but what I said is the basics to get it working, after the .gct has been created, put it/them into the NeoGamma/codes folder.

I use codes for wii quite often, however i think neogamma does not supports GC codes, only wii codes.

Actually it(NeoGamma) does support GameCube codes, I used to use it for them, but now I only use DIOS MIOS with USB Loader GX r1208(this one has support for newer versions of DIOS MIOS), also if you didn't know, there is a "lite" version of DM, which allows you to play GC games from SD instead of USB, I highly recommend playing games this way, as it saves your Wii's motor & lens.

i probably will try to use my WBFS partitioned EHDD to play GC games, i'd have to check some more stuff, thanks

DIOS MIOS only works with FAT/FAT32 drives, it doesn't work with WBFS nor NTFS, just giving you a heads up.

GAH, well i guess i *could* re partition the drive to have a FAT 32 partition (is not all *that* hard, i just need to remove COD games, and misc/movie games, it should free sufficient space for most of the collection i want/Care about)

As a side not does the DIOS Mios supports last gen wii's? my uncle owns one and he really wants to play some old GC, given the hassle it's moving the wii from one room to the other, i was wondering in case it did, would it be compatible with the wii classi controller? i really doubt there is a positive answer to this one

No , no classic controller support for DM, but there is another loader called Devolution, but it requires a perfect 1:1 ISO copy of the game & the disc for 1 time verification, it doesn't have classic controller support yet, but it's being worked on ATM. and DIOS MIOS is only for GameCube games.

Make sure your Wii is backwards to Gamecube games having Gameube controller ports and memory card slots on side of the Wii.

Gamecube and Wii soft mod with MIOS v5, you can use Gecko Mod for GC.

DIOS MIOS (Lite) is GC FW mod for the Wii allow cheat & play GC games from disc, SD card or USB drive.

Gamecube mode on the Wii never have access to Wii Stuff.

USB Loader GX 3.0 or newer (r1211) is a loader to load games on the Wii

Well, Devolution has virtual memory card support just like DIOS MIOS, Devolution will create a 16MB virtual memory card file(memcard.bin) on whatever your games are stored on(SD/USB) DIOS MIOS has a mode called NMM(no more memory) but it isn't fully compatible with all games as of yet, also I don't play pirated games either, to dump the GC games use Cleanrip or Superdump, Cleanrip is faster, but also has more problems, sometimes it will blackscreen or corrupt you USB/SD, Superdump is only bit slower but can read discs that have more scratches & it has less problems, most people will say only Cleanrip gives you 1:1 dumps, this is a lie, Superdump also gives 1:1 dumps also, the difference is Cleanrip requires IOS58 (for USB 2.0 support), Superdump requires a cIOS (preferably cIOS249) & as long is there is no memory card in slot A or B, Devolution will use virtual memory card.

One last thing, USB Loader GX can also give 1:1 dumps, also CFG USB Loader DM mod 51 version 70 (this also supports DM & Devo)

So to speed this up, my wii is of 2006 and it has already MIOs and most CIOS's patched, my uncle's wii is of 2012 i am not sure if he has any posibilities of installing the MIOS, the hombrew wiki does not says if they removed the MIOS from the system files

Well they(Nintendo) probably did, you see the truth is, the GameCube is not really being emulated on Wii, how come you might say? Well, the Wii has all the same hardware as the GC, just improved versions, about Devolution, it allows GameCube games to take full advantage of the Wii's faster CPU, thus some games will load a lot, LOT faster, also games that have slowdowns will run smoother, SA2B loads a level in about 2-3 seconds, normally it takes about 7-10 seconds, so if your uncle wants want to play GC games on his 2012 Wii, he will have to wait until Devolution has CC support, one last thing, Devolution doesn't need MIOS, it only requires IOS58 with AHBPROT(HBC 1.0.7 or later) enabled to work.
