    there are some shining force 2 cheats that don't seem to work
    i am now inclined to think that maybe they do work.

    found some addresses

    FFF6BE progress related
    FFF6C4 progress related
    FFF712 battle

    the battle numbers correspond exactly with what was posted on this site
    the progress related ones, they go up as you progress through the game, some sort of story flag
    change these numbers, and they will crash the game, i can't change what battle im in, or where im at in the game
    any help would be appreciated

    i got the game configuration code to work, by setting my emulator at Twenty-Fie percent of full speed
    still nill on those other secret codes- for the other codes i tried autohotkey, a macro creator, to map said button presses and then just hold the key down but it does not seem to work on the emulators i ha'e tried (regen, kega fusion, gens mk2 gens re-recording) ie all the ones i know of with cheat search functions.

      I did some checking on those codes not too long ago. From what I could tell, 2 of them are real, but the other one(s) are fake. I found the actual controller button cheats in the ROM for the Configuration cheat, and the Battle cheat. The other cheat(s) that are mentioned on that page you linked to don't have the controller button sequence in the ROM.

      Here are some Game Genie codes I made for those cheats. Some of the codes make the controller button sequence much shorter so it's very easy to do, and some of the codes make it so that the cheats are automatically active....

      NOTE: It's best not to use both codes at the same time.

      Easily access the secret configuration cheat. As soon as
      you see the SEGA logo (when you first start the game),
      press: UP, DOWN (before the SEGA logo fades away).
      You'll hear a musical "fanfare" it you did it right.
      Then, press and hold the START button while you use the
      C button and directional pad to select your saved game.
      If you choose to start a new game, you'll get to rename
      every character in the game. Just remember to hold down
      the START button until you see the configuration menu.
      Once there, you can select: Special Turbo, Control
      Opponent, Auto Battle, and Game Completed. See note
      below on where to get more details on what these do.

      Easily access secret battle cheats. As soon as you see
      the SEGA logo (when you first start the game), press:
      UP, UP (before the SEGA logo fades away). You'll hear
      some sinister music if you did it right. Then, press
      and hold the START button while you use the C button and
      directional pad to select your saved game. If you choose
      to start a new game, you will get to rename every
      character in the game. Just remember to hold down the
      START button until the game starts. Here are some of
      the things this cheat can do: Anytime you're in a town
      or on the map (not in battle), press and hold B to walk
      through or over anything. During a battle, when you're
      close enough to attack an enemy, choose the attack
      option. When the enemy is highlighted, hold down START
      and press C. A small box will appear in the upper right
      hand corner. You can change the number in this box by
      pressing LEFT or RIGHT.

      Battle cheat is always available. When you get close enough to attack an enemy,
      choose the attack or magic option. When the enemy is highlighted, hold down START
      and press C. A small box will appear in the upper right hand corner. You can
      change the number in this box by pressing LEFT or RIGHT. Select the number you
      want and press C.
      00 = Attack any enemy/character (128 = Boss)
      01 = Cast any spell on any enemy/character
      02 = Use any item on any enemy/character
      03 = Not sure (seems to give you exp without attacking)
      04 = Makes character explode (damages anyone nearby)
      05 = Gives a funny message
      06 = Prism Laser
