  • Question on SNES Super Mario RPG

I've been playing Super Mario RPG for a couple weeks and managed to beat Johnny in the sunken pirate ship to get the 5th star. However, when I am receiving the star and it rises up to the screen to join the other 4 twirling stars I have already gotten, the stars freeze and I cannot continue the game.

I am wondering if anyone knows if it is just the emulator I am using (ZSNES) that is messing up or perhaps one of my codes is causing this. I had a save state before the battle and went back there, shut off the codes, then beat Johnny again and it still froze up.

Perhaps even though the codes are off, maybe one of them is remaining at a value that is causing the freeze?

Other than HP and coin codes, the only code that may be doing this is probably the one that shows all the hidden treasure boxes:

    DD91-8FAF

If anyone is familiar with this game and might know what is causing the freeze, I would appreciate it, otherwise I am losing quite a few hours of gameplay do to this damned glitch

I did use a couple other codes, like Mario being able to use his regular Jump technique against all enemies at once but I wouldn't think that would be enough to glitch out a star screen, but for some reason I'm thinking the one that made invisible boxes appear could be it, but I am definitely no expert at this stuff.

    Thanks,
    Adam

The problem is you are using a save state which has already had the values in Rom changed so its still freezes. Best bet would be to load the save before the boss fight then use the save in game (the save box you jump on) then reset the game and load that save without codes. Doing that will reset the changes made by the codes at least in theory.

Thanks for giving me hope helder, since I am using an emulator I had no need for the save boxes in game since I am using save states but I jumped on them anyway...now it just may pay off. Good deal!

Why.... in the holy hell are you using ZSNES? Download SNES9X asap, it's a much better emulator (it's just like FCEUX).

And holy crap AdamL is playing SNES :P
Do I see an SNES Ending FAQ coming?

Cuz I'm old and set in my ways. Every time I try a new emulator I f*&k something up and end up going back to the old one. I still use FCE Ultra

I have enough game endings for one system that would probably surprise you but I've actually been interested in Gameboy stuff lately so I may do a guide for that. Probably has something to do with all of Nolberto's GB codes he's put up lately

Make up your mind already! SNES or GB or finishing your NES End FAQ?

And FCEUX is just like FCEU, but with tons more options. So is SNES9X. Embrace the change!
